Come Sail with The Philly Captain as he shows you what it was like on Kensington Ave as the city of Philadelphia enforces a law that stops people from settling up tents on a city street. It is illegal to camp anywhere in the city but over 50 have tents are set up in Kensington. See what the city is doing to do people who have to move camp and see how the people being forced to leave are acting mid eviction. #Kensington #PhillyCaptain #KensingtonPhilly

There are services for them. Housing, clothing, ect...most of these services require you to be clean and sober and to live in an structured environment you probably will be required to attend NA/AA meetings and monthly drug screens alot of those people do not wanna abide by the rules and guidelines that are set in place at those facilities that will help them so they prefer to live on the streets. Philly Captian i just think if these people will not go into rehab on their own it's time to start locking them up and put them into rehab in a corrections setting. i am a retired corrections officer and we had lots of street people adicts locked up who had to go through rehab and all kinds of programs to try to get them straight . we had job placement programs education programs and religious counsolars who came in to work with these people. when the state cut off funding for these programs we wound up with the problems you see in Philly . it's all over the country, and some people don't understand if we don't put resourses into programs we will always be shoveling shit aginst the tide.

When neighborhoods go bad you can see it coming in advance, we lived in southwest Little Rock in the late 90s could see the neighborhood going down and moved to another town, within 15 years there was hardly a single house on the block I grew up on that didn't have bars on all the Windows. Also houses where I live now are the same size as the one I grew up in and cost around 140-150,000$, but you can buy a house in my old neighborhood for about $15,000.

Why do u continue to call name's of these people. Try putting urself in their shoes. It's not a choice. The 1st time was a bad choice but after that it became a horrible addiction that sucks u in. Unless ur a recovering addict u would never understand. But these people have a lot of emotional trauma, physical trauma, mental illness. I'm not saying that this shouldn't be being done but there's more to the problem and these people need help. Ur bitchin about ur tax dollars being used for these people what about all of ur tax dollars that have been going to Afghanistan for 20yrs and nothing changed. If we worried about taking care of our people and the veterans 1st so they're in housing and are fed. If our country has extra to help other people then fine but take care of home 1st. There should never be a veteran in this country homeless and hungry after serving our country. Like we haven't done anything for other people who come here to the USA and get everything handed to them it's not right. And why is it that the USA can always be the one's trying to save everyone else's country but NO ONE COUNTRY DOES ANYTHING FOR US. STOP SAVING THE REST OF THE WORLD AND TAKE CARE OF OUR CITIZENS 1ST AND GET THEM HELP!!

Rehab or jail. Time to be an adult. And the dealers should be chopped up for shark bait.

It's like putting out a grease fire with water. 24 hours later it's just going to be the same thing somewhere else in the city. Now some other part of Philadelphia gets to host the special Olympics.

Our tax dollars have been buying them clean needles narkcam and every rehabilitation center available but with this wide open no consequences system the loved ones of this situation haven’t stood a chance

That's why they need to legalize, tax and regulate. Then YOUR tax dollars won't be used for NARCAN. Instead, tax collected from the sale of the drugs goes back into those services.

Truth! Sick of seeing these drug addicts get brought back to life.....what to go back and get high....maybe instead of free narcan for junkies they should give free insulin to people with diabetes! Pretty sad when a Junkie gets free needles but someone with an illness has to pay for them...

I don't wish anything bad on people, but I'm tired of the perpetual pity party. Nobody ever has to accept responsibility for their own actions anymore. As a currently working taxpayer of 32 years, I'm tired of it. My life was far from great, but you deal with it & keep moving. I'm just so glad I was able to finally get the hell out of there!
