Update to Minn Kota Ultrex Steering Sensor Repair Video of 2 Weeks Ago

Guys we have heard from Minn Kota and although the word “recall” is used in the video it is not a product recall, however if you have the old style sensor an authorized service center will replace it for you when you are in for service! Also note we skipped a step a service center can do for you, specifically setting the rocker sensor for how much pressure to put on your heel vs toe to steer. Several things you need know on how to fix your Minn Kota Ultrex Steering Sensor. If your trolling motor gets hard to turn or only wants to turn one way these are the things that you need to know, specifically what NOT to do so you don't create additional damage. Minn Kota has re-engineered the steering sensor and this also shows you how to check to see if you have the old style sensor that needs to be replaced. My ultrex steering sensor went out on me this past saturday while on vacationing at lake champlain and I immediately called jones trolling motor & electronics for the part and they shipped it air rite out to me and installed it in 20 minutes and I was back on the water chasing the green & brown fish. My steer sensor just went out and it one of the new ones that's sealed. I can tell it's been swapped because there want a zip tie and the actual mount bracket was broke on the sensor itself. Anyways the old one wouldn't turn left when it was in the low 30s like it was froze. Soon as it thawed it worked fine all day. Happened in the last high school tournament on toledo bend and once back in like November. I've only had the trolling motor a year and a half second hand.

Thanks for the video. My ultrex is 3 years and 11 months since I bought it. It just quit powering up. Checked the power switch and connection…all good. Could a bad steering sensor keep it from powering on ?

How do you replace the blue sensor connecting to the speed dial? Just got mine back from the shop and now it only runs at wide open throttle and speed dial doesn’t control anything. Even when turned to the off position
