@@CreationMyths The last debate I did with a creationist we finished the debate off by doing rounds of cross examination. You could try to do something like that. The irony of the moderator Sam talking about being rude when during my debate, Kent routinely called my brainwashed and heavily implied I would be going to hell for debating him (assuming I was atheist). I also love how Sam immediately jumped to kents defense when he obviously had no idea any mechanisms on his own. The only way you will ever see these debates done is just like Sam requested you do it -- you have to give them the evidence because they have no idea what they are talking about and cannot adequately dismantle evolution on their own.

The late Bill Ludlow made mincemeat of Kent Hovind a few years back. He researched Hovind's script, prepared rebuttals, and had a slideshow debunking every argument Hovind put forward. Best line of the debate was when Hovind started his spiel about tax money funding the teaching of evolution in schools, and Bill retorted "Why are you worried about how the government spends taxes that you don't even pay?". The full debate is still available on KZbin.

Also of note is Aron Ra's debate with Hovind on the Nonsequitur Show in about 2019. Hovind was in a towering rage at the end because the mods refused to let him ramble on with his usual Gish gallop of red herrings, absurdities, and straight-up lies.

Well done. Claiming something can't happen when they don't even know what is proposed to be happening, is an argument unworthy of being taken seriously. And that's before taking into account all the cases of what Kent is claiming being blatantly false. It was painful watching him flounder, trying to answer a question precisely , despite holding relevant textbooks that could have helped him answer. He definitely did not like being called out for his ignorance, and perhaps it's petty, but I enjoyed watching him squirm. He doesn't get to pretend to expertise, expecting his following to trust his claims, and then expect to be immune to examination and criticism. I imagine that's why he got so upset, the pretense is all he has, so when deprived of that he looks pathetic. I think your position on debates with Kent is spot on.

By the way, if any of Kent's miserable excuses for fanboys are around and think Kent being able to name two of the five mechanisms of evolution is somehow a point in his favor, what he actually did was equivalent to correctly name at least one of the characters in the Harry Potter books by saying "I think Harry Potter is one of them". Most people who've never even read the books could do more than that and not a single one of them would feel as smug as Kent did about getting the most obvious ones. He's also saying "mutation alone doesn't do evolution, and natural selection alone doesn't do evolution, so evolution is fake!" which is exactly the same thing as saying "a brick alone doesn't make a house, and a window doesn't make a house, so houses don't exist!". To make a house you need bricks, windows, floors, structural beams, insulation, wiring, plumbing, plywood, gyprock, plaster, nails, screws, paint, doors, doorknobs, locks, and a ton of other things that WHEN PUT TOGETHER make a house. Evolution isn't "just" anything, it's what happens when you put all the pieces together. Kent isn't just a stupid asshole, he thinks YOU, _miserable fanboy,_ are a stupid asshole too, and he's lying to you because he knows you're too dumb to notice. It's the ONLY thing he's ever been right about, by the way.

@@CreationMyths The only thing I can figure is that their cult brainwashes them into thinking being lied to is the same thing as respect. I base it on the demonstrable fact that religious people have a more difficult time differentiating between reality and fantasy to the point where they can't even engage in hypotheticals. Since their _entire worldview_ is a lie, being lied to is fine as long as it's what they want to hear. It's _Theistspeak,_ right? Similar language to English, but the meaning of every word is reversed? Mix it with the cult defense mechanism of anti-intellectualism and you've got a sickening recipe for "insult me more daddy Kent" and the ever-increasing trend of every-accusation-is-a-confession.

I was and am a truth seeker. One thing in my experience in the U. S. Army caused me to wonder about why are we here, why is the sun and the moon and stars so insinct in their orbits and where on earth did they come from, and why am I always seeking for peace. I purchased a bonafide gem of a stereo whist I was serving and started to get lost in Rock and Roll music, drugs and alcohol and having sex with whomever I could attract. This lifestyle caused a deep and severe depression that I could not shake. I was hospitalized one year after E. T. S. from the military with depression. It was there that I was given a pamphlet entitled "The four spirtual laws. Which in a nutshell are one, I am a sinner(I. E. I lie, I steal, I ...I...I...) two, there is a Creator who was actually in existence before we were. three, He is Holy and because of my sin I have created an uncrossable gulf between me and Him for by we can have fellowship(Which in a nutshell is the answer to why I am here on this planet) and finally, the uncrossable gulf between me and my Creator was miraculously bridged by the death, burial, and resurrection of His only begotten Son, our Lord Jesus! So If you are like me and wondering why the world could be so screwed up when the beauty of nature isn't, then seek God for yourself.

I wholeheartedly approve of your approach here. If someone is incapable of opening their mouth to express an opinion on a particular topic without getting at least one foot lodged in there, there is no point talking to them about that subject. Kent's understanding of recombination was, I agree, 100% grade-A Colombian bat shit crazy. No amount of post hoc scrabbling to point out that it's off-topic to give someone the bare minimum of rope, then watching the predictable consequences unfold (especially in such spectacular fashion), can detract from the impact of such a simple demonstration that Kent's opinions on this subject are fundamentally worthless. I've had numerous conversations on social media with primate change deniers that have followed a very similar trajectory, and it's kind of disturbing to speculate that a likely reason for this is that Kent is incredibly popular in those circles.

One thing I’ve noticed about his debates is that no matter what the original topic is he’ll always claim that “evolution is a religion being taught in public schools at tax payers expense” or some variation of that. One thing I’d want people to press him are the multiple court cases that have successfully ruled against teaching Intelligent Design in the classroom. Furthermore even people of faith don’t want Intelligent Design to be taught in public schools.
@creationismsuperthesisguy4 ай бұрын
It's not that he just "doesn't know" he doesn't want to learn anything about the topic. He doesn't want to actually learn or discuss the real possibilities. He only does when he absolutely has to. Like how he "admits" speciation but doesn't accept it is macroevolution, and even macroevolution that is now observable thanks to modern experiments that use small organisms with high reproductive rates and low life spans allowing for a large number of generations. We've observed full on speciation in as few as 30,000 generations! He admits this but just makes a semantics argument about how it's not evolution it doesn't count because blah blah not change in kind, they didn't change into birds or some other modern organism, blah blah blah not at all how it works! Evolutionary theory means a few million years from now there will be new clades of creatures for whatever we turn into to look at, assuming our dumb asses somehow raise generations smarter than us and survive and it's supported by a ton of evidence. That's the only argument he has. That evolution isn't true because you can't turn an amoeba into a whale. He says he objects because he doesn't want taxes wasted on educating people with facts that he doesn't know but everyone is trying to just get him still to just understand the actual topic.
