Because they didn't have to question there stability now they do regardless of someone's brought in behind them at there specified spot or not they will have someone backing them up and if they fail to meet standard they will sit and watch the other guy play.. no matter there status that's standard and public accountability.

Hey now, he's disappointed and the criticisms are warranted and falls on his shoulders. The man obviously has earnest feelings about the BS he's shoveling. For the record, I think I'm in the minority that think keeping Ballard, he identifies talent well, he's been blamed for much of what could be considered bad luck, and I think he's a very solid GM. It doesn't mean I'm blind to him going out at times and being a jackass. If taken as a singular event it's fine, but I fully admit people have a legitimate argument when they point out his seeming shallowness because the Colts primary issue is public relations. I mean this can't just be a carryover from Reich. It goes all the way back to Dungy at least. Considering Irsay catches heat for his social media presence (admittedly it seems he's been muzzled a bit) on more than a few occasions, that's where I'd start. If Irsay believes withholding information, misleading etc. the fans, he's wrong. If he's directing everyone else to follow suit, he's wrong. If he's condoning how they're communicating he's wrong. If he does nothing at all he's at the very least complicit. This issue is the one area the Colts have been consistent in being wrong. Even during the winning seasons. It seems as if it's become noticeable during the middle of the road seasons; which hopefully the press will put enough focus on for this organization to recognize needs to be corrected. If it's not, every coaching staff and GM that comes here will be setup for failure.

@austinmay7013 күн бұрын
Ultimately, the biggest issue here is players holding players accountable. It's so silly to hear players talking about poor accountability when they are the one's supposed to be holding each other accountable. It isn't all on the coaches or staff. Players ultimately see more than anyone else. It takes men confronting other men in the locker room - like any great team. I remember watching a video before the season when Latu was going hard in practice. It seemed like D--buck and a few other leaders discouraged him from going so hard and it pissed me off. They were laughing and saying, "chill". D-buck is great, but it's this beta, soft mentality in practice that leads to lackluster seasons.

I think this is pretty easy to figure out. I am a 54-year-old Indiana resident and I think it's pretty easy to figure out what's going on. Chris Ballard got a pass because Jim Irsay still micromanages certain decisions. Do you think that hiring Jeff Saturday as an interim head coach was a Chris Ballard move? Absolutely not. That was Jim making a personal decision. And I highly suspect that getting Anthony Richardson was a move first and foremost championed by Jim. Something tells me that the football heads probably weren't as high on him as Irsay was, who tends to be an emotional guy and has always been looking for another Peyton Manning. And since Anthony Richardson is teetering on the verge of being called a draft bust, I think that was the reason Chris Ballard didn't get the boot. Because the biggest mistake on this roster wasn't his. The fact that he didn't get fired I think is an admission that the Anthony Richardson pick didn't come from Chris. I think it's gotten him one more year to see what he can do with him. And as far as Shane steichen goes, I am still scratching my head at some of his play calls. Really really odd play calls. Like he doesn't understand the right tactics for the situation. But at the end of the day, it's not his fault that you have a quarterback who only completes 47% of his passes. Gus Bradley had to be the sacrificial lamb because somebody had to go. But I think Chris Ballard and the rest of the coaching staff get one more year to prove something before the big reset

But even I was aware that he only had 13 starts in college, struggled, only hit half of his passes in college and had a ton of other issues. Football issues. And now it seems that it might be legitimate to question his work ethic. It can set a team back many years if you have a top 10 pick and Miss like this.
@Reggie7173 күн бұрын
@@richardbullwood5941 i agree, but it can also set a team back if they arent willing to take chances. AR is as big a project qb as it gets, its still too early to throw in the towel. Hold the line for now
@richardbullwood59413 күн бұрын
@Reggie717 It's too early to throw in the towel because we paid too much for him. Of course we have to exhaust all avenues to see if this thing can work. And I respectfully disagree on one point. You take chances when your first draft pick is at the end of the first round or later. You don't take a wild guess on a number four pick. But you've got to keep your eyes wide open. He is statistically the worst quarterback in the league. And on top of that, there are some serious questions about his work ethic and desire to fix himself. A team gets set back when they have a top five pick, which only happens once in a blue moon, and you miss. Can you imagine how we would be sitting right now if we took Bo Nix? I understand hindsight is 20/20. And I understand his measurables were off the charts. But you cannot be a legitimate NFL quarterback if you're completing less than half of your passes. And I don't know how an attitude adjustment fixes that. Have you seen him play? He stares down his primary receiver. I have yet to see him actually go through a progression. I'm not even convinced he can throw the route tree. The fact we took him so highly means he's going to get one more season. And if a miracle doesn't happen, it's back to square one

Five starters will be free agents - Ryan Kelly, Julian Blackmon, EJ Speed, Mo Alie-Cox, and Will Fries. How many of them can't the Colts lose - or upgrade from?

I belive he will be more aggressive this off season with bringing in players that will make the locker room more competitive. His trust was broken by the players he decided to keep and build with. Everyone be prepared to see new faces next season!

This. He trusted these guys and they let him down hard. I see where he was coming from where "I did all this for you," so you feel they'd bust their ass for him. Like Dungey. He never yelled or raised his voice, and they would move mountains for him. People aren't the same anymore. They don't care if they hurt or let people who shield them from harm or danger.

When people like Ballard and Steichen say that it's their fault, they never provide examples of what, exactly, they did wrong, and what the lessons specifically were that they had to learn from. As far as bringing in a different GM, it would be arguable that they wouldn't have to learn the same lessons as Ballard has had, certainly not given the 8 years that Ballard has been given.

I noticed about Ballard, he never talked much about the team. he was talking about everything else, but what he’s gonna do for this team.mr. Irsay wants to win, really? No shit, ya think. He was trying his best to get off the subject of talking about the team.
@daltonmast99823 күн бұрын
Sounds like we are going to be getting some talent during free agency the way Chris is talking. Can't wait to see what happens
@X35C3 күн бұрын
Who with talent wants to come here and just be part of a locker room? I'm sure anyone with any talent would go to a program that has some potential to get into a Super Bowl. Or at least a big city like Dallas, Vegas or Los Angeles.
@daltonmast99823 күн бұрын
@X35C money talks and depending on who comes in for DC players go to teams not just for super bowl wins but for who the coaches are and like I said money talks. Most players are more in this for the money. Not all but most. Also Chris never really tried hard for outside guys. He's a drafting gm but he made it kind of clear that he wants to bring guys in through free agency. So like I said I can't wait to see what happens

He would have to get to at least the divisional round next year to keep his job. A winning season or a playoff appearance will probably not be enough

Everything he said sounded good but I’ll believe it when I see it. He’s had eight years and his philosophy has proven nothing. I did like what he said about AR. He needs competition and must prove that he can stay healthy and lead this team.

I trust Ballard more than i trust the process of having someone new come in and make things work right away with this team as ready as its ever going to be for a playoff run...The roster is right for that run now as many of the players are in their prime...Unless you have made the decision to clean house and start over, Ballard most likely is the Colts best choice simply because the possibility of a new GM could go south in a hurry....Look at Tennessee...They're new GM lasted what 1-2 yrs ??? ....The one thing i truly am sick and tired of hearing about is AR's ""SO CALLED"" potential....Two yrs in all we have seen is constant injury and one of the leagues worse passing games from the kid....Come 2025 he and Ballard both have to be on their last COLT chance....Either it works next yr and works well or time to move on and find what does....Colts are overdue....

"Mr. Irsay wants to win". Bro. Mr Irsay was congratulating the Colts players for beating the Jags in OT in a meaningless game. Then he had the audacity to say they were 1-0 in 2025. Wanting to beat the Jags and wanting to win the SB are 2 completely different things. 😆
@monkgreer47863 күн бұрын
So here is what i think so take it for what it's worth. Chris is the General Manager not the owner. And Chris follows what the owner wants. I think Chris makes suggestions and provides his opinion but the owner has the last say on everything that is done in the Colt's organization and in doing so Chris is the one who has to fall on the sword like he did today.
@1776_Reasons3 күн бұрын
Ballard sounds like a politician telling people what they need to hear to shut them up. His actions and results don't match his words. I'll believe his BS when I see it, but this organization has an interesting relationship with truth...

juju brents is on IR every year, we have terrible safeties, Richardson always hurt/tired. Im expecting this dude to sign a free agent corner and WR who can actually play ball and draft a safety. If not it will be another terrible year for the colts and ballard will be fired. This dude always has 30+ mil in cap space and just doesnt spend it for some unknown reason
@tinahouser42173 күн бұрын
Talking about Anthony Richardson's development and being patient is getting old. The time is now, he needs to step it up. It's the NFL. This is not college anymore. I don't think he has what it takes to be an NFL quarterback so I'm going to have to suffer through all these seasons until Ballard comes to the same conclusion.
