That's a pretty nice tent for a soldier! When I was enlisted in the US Army, we carried a "shelter - half." If you wanted a full tent, you would have to find a battle buddy and put your two halves together for a full tent. Other than that, our Squads and Platoons lugged around GP (general purpose) Small/Medium/Large tents. They typically took several people to set them up and they could get pretty heavy. When I left the US Army, I guess they started issuing one-man Combat Shelters.

I don't commit on every video of yours that I have watched but am extremely interested how well you talk about your day. More importantly how you talk through setting up your tents. I suffer from anxiety and deep depression, watching your videos really helps immediately with my mental health. Thanks for making your videos and posting them, means a lot to me a long I hope you continue to make then. You come across as an easy yet understandable kind of gent and that really shows in your videos in such a great positive way. I will look forward to watching more future videos. Take Care ! Andy, Maybe a good sub-topic for one of your videos, would be to test de-odorizing products for folks who have older tents/ equipment. There are two common products here in the US for deodorizing fabrics. One of them is Lysol. I’m sure you have it in the UK or an equivalent. My Eureka Timberline, 4 person tent has served me very well since 2004. Over time, I’ve punched a few careless holes, and have fixed a few seam leaks over the past twenty years. However: She has started to smell as if an old man has been sleeping in her for a few decades. That’s when I decided to carry a spray can of Lysol (lemon scent) as part of my kit. It kills mold and mildew on the interior surfaces of the tent and it isn’t too expensive. Also, every year that I use my tent, I spray the outer surface with a silicone based water repellent spray. This tent and vestibule is as good as the day I bought it those many years ago!

🎉Andy, I've been watching your channel for months now and every video is great content Never seen this military tent, other than when you were late to mark and the 'ole boy' chap and his sauce! These were likely used by REMFs,. Thats what us front line fodder would call the Rear Echolong Mother Feckers, REMF. Front line would not be issued kit like that for front line operations. We survived under a basha or if you were savvy a gortex bivvy. Your style of camping or bushcraft is civilised camping and it's a shame that UK is restricted for the masses to get out and live the dream, whilst In Europe, it's permitted or ignored. I salute you Sir!

We had much simpler olive drab colored tents back in the 80's. Each soldier would carry a half of it (basically a tarp, there were no zippers or anything) and when it was time to pitch you put two halves together and share it with your buddy.. These are roughly from the second half of the 90's or later. Now on with the video :)
