Well I had a day over 50 degrees and I SAW BEES flying and pooping on the snow banks... woo hoo... After the horrible mite infestations, I still have bees!!! 🤩🤩🤩

Glad to see ya in Kentucky. I live southeast Kentucky and have been trying to locate local honey for a few months now. I have not been able to find local bee keepers on the net at all. Found many listings in Tennesse but not for my area. I’ll keep searching. Great video guys!

In my 30 yrs of beekeeping I have met so many great people, it has now come full circle as I am buying out the retiring commercial beekeeper who sold me my 1st 2 nucs 31 years ago this spring! Great channel, on the list for some Cory stevens genetics.....making great queens is the key to healthy strong colonies

With swarming, is there still debate or is it pretty much fact to maximize honey production they shouldn't be allowed to swarm?

I'm not sure anything is 100% certain, but most beekeepers say hives that don't swarm generally produce more. Randy Oliver has a great idea, which is to split hives threatening to swarm, and then recombine them right before the big nectar flow. You can either sell the extra queen or bank her with a handful of bees in a mini mating nuc to be used as a backup.

This is my first year overwintering bees and so far all 4 hives have survived. Will the queens go down in bottom deep or should they be rotated?
