My Dad had 2 SAR’s one was an old Schrapels day cab and the other was an 86 model with ROH on the spoiler. Used to run Adelaide Perth and Melbourne. Anyone remember it?

Watched this a few times to see if the old girl I picked up was on here. No luck, good to see though. Mines a 76 tipper with a vt903 and 15 spd. Seems like a kind of rare combo as most I've seen have been gm powered

A long way ahead its time,compact powerful and tough. Just wished they didnt put the hump in the floor for the V8-903 cummins. The rarest SAR were the ones built triples rated and had the K series cummins.

The SAR replaced the imported S model. (set back front axle) I think SAR stands for S model, (setback front axle) Australian Righthand drive.

BW.... SAR stands for Short Austrailian Righthandrive.. 'S' & SAR were never set back front axles..ButEyeDoSt&2BCorrected

Yes the S model (Short) was a global model but SAR was Australian/ NZ only

The very 1st lot of Kenworth SAR did not have the recess in the 1/2 guards to remove aircleaner elements, as the aircleaner was mounted on a hinged bracket to swing out or you removed the mirror bracket to lower element in/out from top, also the 1st few years of the SAR had 5" headlights where later Versions had the 7" headlights
