Taxation is a painful pinch. But I think Africa remains backward because of our stupidity. Take you as an example, you don't know why Ghana and Kenya have similar tax policies, yet you're so quick to demean and belittle your President. Let me educate you: Ghana and Kenya were at a blink of insolvency because of the borrowing acts of their respective previous governments. The largest share of their debts were Chinese with extremely high interest rates. They had to borrow from the IMF and to partly offset the Chinese loans (IMF has lower interest). Now, you can ramble like you know something about these leaders being puppets, but their are aligning their national interests when it's most favorable. The US is one their biggest trade partner, way more fair than China or Russia. For example, Kenya's Export to Import ratio (trade balance) for US market was about 0.9. Meaning that our exports were almost equal to the imports. With China, the ratio was 1:30. Meaning that for every $1 of out exports to China, we were importing $ 30. Clearly, this trade only benefits one party, while loading the other with debts. When Americans invest in Kenya, they employ a large part of the local population. When Chinese do, they bring their own people to Kenya as employee. Seriously, which power is in line with our interests?? The West obviously has other motives, but we must adapt like India, keep emotions and sentiments out and only seek our economic interests. We cannot keep an "anti-west" rhetoric when it's damaging our economies and loading them with debts. Unfortunately, many citizens like yourself will only move with what others say... "puppets".. "used" etc.
