Rick S- I wish more people would understand the concept and importance of per capita when interpreting statistics. > The response is to always point to anecdotal evidence and then act as if they disproved the argument being presented. > As I stated in my original comment, "Of course it doesn't GUARANTEE success" to have both parents active in their child's life, I never made that argument. The point I was making is that having both parents, specifically a father (or even a father figure) increases the chances of the child's success dramatically.

Yes you can be successful without two parents and having two parents doesn't necessarily guarantee success, but all the studies show having two parents is a crucial part of a persons development. Yeah, having both parents in a child's life does help a lot but there's no guarantees. People can have both parents in their lives and still turn out jacked up. MrKravonGill it's a figure of speech dude. Seriously it is that hard to understand? When people said their mom is this the mother and father at the same time, it means the mother takes on the role of both parents to raise her kids. She does motherly things like taking care of them in a maternal way but also do things for them that fathers would do. So many amazing single mothers was able to accomplished that. A single mother has to take that role. Just like a single dad taking both roles of a mother and father. A single parent have to find a way to fill both roles because their kids will need it. Do you think that because a mom isn't a dad, she would be like oh I can't do that for you because I'm not your dad?

I am black and Karl was absolutely right. The biggest problem my community faces today is the lack of fathers, mostly because black women have no problem with having kids with no fathers present, because they think they can raise kids without fathers. Kenyon Martin got a championship playing the same brand of basketball he played for George Karl...I never had much respect for George Karl to begin with. Now I just can't stand the guy...
@charljack8 жыл бұрын
Funny how Karl mentioned Dean Smith so much. Dean was NEVER seeking attention. It was all about his players. He built relationships w/ players so much he willed them $200 each upon his passing. Dean retired as the best coach of his era w/ zero fanfare. He just left. Karl needs to reexamine his methods. Dean took all of his family business to his grave.

Having a father or mother doesn’t guarantee success and make you a good person. But IT IS the highest percentage of giving you proper morals,self worth, how to respect and live as a good person in this world. But don’t say Fathers aren’t needed. THEY ARE JUST AS IMPORTANT AS MOTHERS. THE BREAKDOWN OF THE FAMILY HOME IS THE REASON WHY OUR COUNTRY IS BROKEN. A proper 2 Parent home is the best way to raise kids.

Yes and no, but mostly no. When someone makes a comment that basically says that a woman can not, 'scuse me, let me repeat myself, a woman can not do the job of both mother and father....... when a person says as much, he or she is not cutting down your mamma. I get it. Somebody from a single parent family headed by a mom is gonna be uppity. Is gonna be defensive. I get that. What's done is done and you're the exception to the rule Kenyon: you turned out great. Your mom did a great job. Barkley's mom did a great job. But the truth is most moms in these single parent fam situations don't do so great. Sixty percent of our prisoners come from single parent families headed by moms. We need to change our divorce laws. It's too easy for women to just say, "Wup, I'm done. I want all the money, but I don't want to have to deal with a man." And so 70% of all divorces are initiated by women. Because they can get about as much money, but kick the father out, never let the father see his children, and these women get to control things. And it's ruining the children from these families. It's ruining MOST of the children from these families.

I used to have respect for George Karl. Kenyon is right for speaking up and defending his name & FAMILY. More and more each day things are being revealed about what they ( "blue bloods") really think about certain athletes. (READ BETWEEN THE LINES). It's either one of two things...1) JEALOUSY of how much money the players are making ; and less power of coaches , GMs , have now and days. Or it's number 2) ****** ....you fill in the blanks because I don't feel like having that type of debate ; it tends to turn into name calling & a bunch of lies and stereotypes.

Not to say that a father could ever be replaced or that a mother could teach a man certain things but me being raised by a single mother, I must say, when people compliment me on my human qualities, my generosity and my ability to be a father to children of my own and ones that God has given me, I always say that my mother made me. The greatest gift God gave me, my Mom, thank you to all the single mothers, you are not celebrated enough. I pray that once you read this you will call your mother and say, I love you and tell her how she shaped you , today..❤️

George talked about them not having a father... His comments were more than basketball, these are PERSONAL attacks. An assessment talking about a player not playing defense is one thing, but talking about someone not having a father that is not the same thing.

***** there are no absolutes in human behavior, but still, all studies show two parent homes are the most viable structure to increase the chances of producing a productive child. There will always be examples on either end of the spectrum, but that doesn't negate the norm.

Kemet Trill obviously but that's why it's Case by case two parents give you the best odds but it's still Case by case it's some people that have 2 parents but 1 might be on drugs or there but a dead beat it ranges from family to family
