Thank you, Coach Keppner for one of the most important aspects of our sport, shadow boxing. Personally for me, I’m a true and very dedicated competitive boxer. I’m also a southpaw switch hitter that incorporates the very effective art of shifting into my arsenal. That’s why I will at times (some days) shadow box for 18 three minute rounds. 18 three minute rounds of open with technical shadow boxing is a boxing workout within itself! It may sound like overkill, but there are times in which I will divide 18 three minute rounds into 6 three minute rounds. I first 6 three minute rounds is technical shadow boxing. The next 6 three minute rounds, and the last 6 three minute rounds simulate sparring and/or fighting against certain opponents/sparring partners. The reason that I will at least shadow box a minimum of 12 rounds is because I work all aspects of my boxing: movement, defense, compound attacks and offense, counter punching, etc. Also, very importantly, shadow boxing is not only universal, but in shadow boxing, that’s the best activity that I can simulate my fight and sparring against certain opponents. Personally, I thank my Mighty Lord Jesus Christ that I am a 6X Champion Boxer, as of now. God bless you and thank you. 😎🔥🥇 🥊🥊🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾💖✝️

Another great video Coach! The thing about missing punches being important that I love about Shadowboxing is fighters who only hit mitts and heavy bag tend to loose balance when the miss because they are so used to hitting the target which helps them loose momentum. Then when they miss in sparring they over extend and literally knock themselves off balance. My experience is that proper Shadowboxing fixes this mistake very wel!

Great video! As a complete newb I'd like to get a breakdown on how to overcome initial frustration. e.g. I train a defensive drill, like "parry-cross" or "slip-jab", but in a spar-like situation (so far with trainer only), I default to the high guard and only at 3rd or 4th punch, I start to catch momentum to throw something back. I blink a lot and lose eye contact, which gets me in trouble. Maybe just a short story on typical newb progression and overcoming the frustration of not keeping up with the speed or not understanding which punch is coming and which defense to pick

Yes! I recommend having a foundational way you are going to perfect to block every punch so 1 answer, then progress to having 3-5 for every punch!
