If you have trouble getting it to work: - check, whether your engine runs clockwise or counterclockwise. make sure your props are in the same configuration. they have two variants and you can switch at the bottom of the prop menu -make sure your props are extended - play around with the AOA of the props. monitor the AOA during takeoff and see with which angel you get the most thrust. at high airspeed during flight, you may need to decrease it again to get the most thrust. if you get to slow after a high G maneuver you might need to increase the angel again. for me, -63 at takeoff, -58 at about 60-80 m/s and -53 at 100 m/s and above worked the best. (if you go backwards, try positive numbers)

@@spadedzero4483 The engine has a brake that is coupled with the brakes. so check if you have the brakes activated. you can change that by decreasing the brakjeforce in the engine menu to zero

Id recommend using structural tubes instead of fuel, engine doesn’t need that much and makes it lighter.

This might sound really dumb. But once you've selected quad nodes how do you get all 4 propellers to connect because whenever I try it it only shows 1 or 2 props depending on my symmetry and then seems to randomly make 4 props somehow.

The rotor has a node option toward the top. You can set that between two and eight. Then even if you put a prop on symmetry two, once you attach it to the rotor, it’ll automatically put how many nodes the rotor is set for if that makes sense. Nodes are the green balls that things attach to.

Didnt work for me. Followed along every part. Maybe cause im on console? I dont know why that would change it that much. I have the kal 1000 and editor control. 1 prop rotates with throtle and no motor movement . ill keep trying. So many possible things to click on but none get it spining.

The main throttle action group should be bound to the propeller blade authority limiter. In The video I put the rotor throttle on a KAL and bound that one to RCS. I’m also on console.

I just unlocked the whole tech tree doing tourist missions and now I'm doing underwater mining and I'm building submarines to dock with the bases but I couldn't figure out the propellers lol

This is very helpful and concise, thanks. Is there a method, other than counter rotating props, to cancel the natural roll? Do real life pilots constantly have to fight that, or is there some method to counter that in design?

As a matter of fact, there is no need for a Kal 1000 for a prop plane. Set your props blades deployed, trigger the thrust with the rpm of the motor, and here she flies! Monoprops planes are not very stables, though.... I prefer a twin motor (one on each wing) rotating against the other to compensate.

Correct, but to adjust speed with the main throttle, you’ll want to use the KAL. Saves from having to keep the rotor menu open.

@@JohnnyOneShot no need, really! Chose the throttle shortcut, select the motor, select rpm, and thats all. Your throttle will increase or decrease your rpm. I can swear it works because... I have never been able to use Kal correctly.... - _-'

When you're in the authority limiter adjuster, how do you get your green line in the middle? My green line is at the very bottom of the gray box it's in and so is difficult to adjust.

PC? So this was on console. you need to use Deployment angle instead of authority limiter. If you’re use it two rotors, set both blades on the KAL to a positive number.

I had the same problem but just managed to make it work: put rmp to max and par limit to max and then quit the brakes, because seems that brake action group brakes the engine too D:

torque % is what starts the engines. The wheel brakes also stop the engines so make sure that's not on.

@@JohnnyOneShot like I said I copied this tutorial, my plane looks the same except those little wing tip things that you said where more for aesthetic. I didnt have as many options when I did the K1000 controller thing however but I was able to do what you did, not sure if that would be the issue, I also had to reverse the rotation direction on my motor thing because it spun the wrong way, and I couldn't see the blades move when I went to the different timestamp things in the controller. I'm playing PC with no mods

So on pc you want to use Deploy angle, not authority limiter. I made this before I ever played PC and didn’t know it was different.

Trying throttling down a little. If you angle the blades to much it won’t go. Especially the airplane props. You have to slowly increase the angle. Worst case send me a couple pics @xinjohnwetrustx on Twitter.

Watch your propeller angle. To much or to little makes it slow. Slowly increase angle as you move down the runway.

With the airplane blades, you can’t just angle them 100%. You have to slowly increase the angle. Maxing our the angle basically turns them sideways which doesn’t produce thrust.

You can use trim to counter this. Trim only works when SAS is turned off. It basically makes the vessel constantly move in a certain direction. On console you need to hold L1 or LB while making inputs and on PC you need to hold alt

Easier? Kind of. You can set your blade angle manually before you launch then just turn on the rotor. Then set the rpm to main throttle. Real world rotor craft spin up the engines to max and use blade angle for lift the same way i so using the KAL 1000. Thus why I do it that way.

Disappointing gyro-copters seem to not be working. A powered forward prop with a free spinning helicopter rotor. The aerodynamics aren't programmed for them to work like they do in real life. I wonder if someone can take this on a challenge?
