When designing a fuel module for my station, I originally envisioned a full orange tank (and I've done that in the past). Eventually, I came to realize that it's actually more efficient to design smaller "stackable" modules that can connect end-to-end and send each up on a smaller lifter. then you can use your normal rocket and not have to design a monstrosity that can lift 50 tons to orbit.

I haven't made it to the mining just yet in my career mode as far as the science goes. Another trip to Duna or so and I should be set to start...so, the tutorial for mining should prove most helpful.

Good tutorials, very interested in seeing the mining operation and perhaps another station around the moon?

Thanks for these videos. I now have my very own space station orbiting Kerbin. Adding the fuel rig was tough because i'm on xbox one so don't have the mod for the auto docking. Even if i got the delta to zero the fuel tank kept drifting slightly so when i was attaching the scaffolding i always had a long trip back to dock again. The xbox is not really capable of dealing with too much either. Get a lot of slow down when i'm around the station. Maybe time to look at upgrading the PC for this game alone. Anyway, Mun base to do now!
@Orb8Ter8 жыл бұрын
+Windystig Lol even my 8 cpu core struggles as the physics are being calculated for every part, but we'll done on making a space station from stock I don't know if I could do that without Kerbal engineer delta v stats ;D
@Windystig8 жыл бұрын
It was really tough to do and to add insult to injury, the Xbox One version has some major save game issues and when i went back to it the latest save game i have is before i did the refueling rig. Gutted. Apparently the developers are almost done with a patch to release but has pushed me towards moving to PC for Kerbal.

I wouldnt mind seeing something about the deep space relay network. Sites ive seen suggest something like 24 satellites in a kerbol orbit just inside of jool. How do you even plan for that number of probes?
@xxffdsfa3349 жыл бұрын
thx for your tut vids. i have learned a lot! (financials are far away from rockets)...but i am now stock at a point where i have seen guys "doing it"! i want to have two engines "at two stages", but i have problems with the "cross feed of fuel" that "external fuel duct" will not "go over" the first engine, so no cross feed possible? its like with the struts, i am not able to get them "along a whole rocket"?!? whats the "secret combination"?
@Orb8Ter9 жыл бұрын
Cool that I'm helping out. Now with the struts if you mean over the length of the rocket then you want something poking out of the rocket, I normally use the small girder place as many as you need to clear any obstacles then connect the strut between the two areas may not look appealing but it works. Hmm the fuel duct, it depends what type of stages you are on about and do you have both engines firing at the same time? first the fuel duct has to run from a fuel tank and it's important to connect the fuel duct to the tank you want to take fuel from first then to the fuel tank or engine you want that fuel tank to feed, if there are parts in the way then there is no way to use the fuel duct a redesign would be needed to get the fuel duct to work, it may be that I misunderstand what you are trying to do, in my experience with the game I only use the fuel duct to for asparagus staging meaning you have all engines firing but you always keep the next stage fuel tank full (in other words your dropping dead weight to make your rocket more efficient) or to feed the fuel directly into a rocket engine when it's not connected directly to the tank, hope some of this helps :)

I can't seem to get the angle on my launching, I have to go straight upwards which screws up the apoapsis orbit and doesnt make it round but oval shaped, how can i fix this?
@Orb8Ter9 жыл бұрын
+ACS/VAS/SWE Ok launching can be the hardest task, You have to make sure you launch and always point close to the yellow prograde marker while turning slowly Try adding struts if you get wobble as this could cause you to loose control I you have problems with rocket flips try adding reaction control wheels and even add RCS thrusters for control be carfull too much control can cause more wobble so test a couple of designs if you have too.
@LinusE9 жыл бұрын

That probe thingy really helped you there. The idea is just brilliant. Is that what they do and have in real life?
@Orb8Ter8 жыл бұрын
+Bluemage6 It's a good idea but the problem in real life is safety so multiple dockings could have the potential of collision and debris, that's why they use the robotic arm for the supply missions and auto pilot docking for everything else
@aqilaalubis8 жыл бұрын
+Orb8Ter Hmm. Okay. Cool. Never knew they had robot arms in space.
@Orb8Ter8 жыл бұрын
+Bluemage6 They call it the Canada Arm but they also have the Robonaught up there where someone on the ground can use VR equipment to control it they haven't used it in space yet though but it will be cool when they do.

Hi, I don't go very high with my space stations, 160-180k, but, once in space, I decouple anything aerodynamic (on which I place 6-8 sepratons and dump it in retrograde, that always drops its periapsis to below 55km and Kerbin eats them.
@gamerscircle9 жыл бұрын
I think I have duplicated what you showed, but the SRB' are still burning when the 1st batch of orange tanks are done and about 8k up, it flips out.
@Orb8Ter9 жыл бұрын
+Andy Wood You need to setup the sepratrons to fire when the tanks are decoupled can be tedious to setup but if you attach one then set it to the correct stage then use ALT and click on the sepratron so you have copied it so when you place it on another point on the tank it will automatically stage the same as the part you copied. as for rocket flipping try and keep on the prograde when launching through the atmosphere, unless its the sepratrons causing the problem.

Immortalcheese Ah ha the first one to ask! I have gone the route of electronics/electrical engineering I was inspired by the probes NASA have been sending out there (I was into astronomy before engineering didnt see it as a career path when I was younger) so thought that was a cool career, I joined the electronics course when I was in school and went from there, the only thing I wished I had done was gone into computers as well at least the programming side of it.

It doesn't work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whenever I try to do my maneuver, my orbit I run out of fuel! I use 1/3 thrust from the beginning and on my first orbit, not intercepting the station's orbit yet, I run out of fuel! The only way to prevent this is to nick 5/6 of the fuel from the center tank making it completely useless in the end! Any suggestions?
@jmullentech8 жыл бұрын
You should have wellllllll over 3/4 of your fuel left if done right
@D3nchanter8 жыл бұрын
you making a gravity turn???
@jmullentech8 жыл бұрын
Denchanter357 Doubtful. 1/3 throttle... meh. I'd say nearly 100% (if not 100%) during most of the ascent, coast to apoapsis, gravity turn, burn to raise periapsis. With this exact build I usually have well over 3/4 fuel remaining on the last stage. Then the payload as well. Trips to every single planet SHOULD be possible with this exact configuration! I've made it to Jool, got into polar orbit and still had 1,000m/s+ ∆v remaining on the payload. Something he's doing is not right.
@logankerr59009 жыл бұрын
why dont you press 4 symmetry? its quicker and easier!
