Nova, I think for the first question people would be more willing to break their hands for the fact they'll heal. If you lose your front teeth they're gone forever, and most people aren't willing to get fake teeth, so if you had the choice between something that you'll lose forever and something that'll take time to heal I think I'd choose to break my hands. The pain would be less severe since the adrenaline would kick in once you broke your hands too and less of a bloody mess like it would occur from your teeth being forced out.

I think they answered the broken hand/teeth question based on the recovery process itself growing back a new set of adult teeth (six months long) is tougher than recovering from a broken hands (3 weeks long), plus with the broken teeth you'd have to eat from a straw for the whole time or just have baby food or sumthing.

Breaking your front teeth would scar you for life. You can only recover in a cosmetic sense and it can be challenging and cost a fair bit of dental coverage. If you break your hands (e.g. some fingers) they can fully recover depending on the break and set. In rare cases it may require surgery to set the bone properly, or it may affect function. You at least have a fair chance at a complete recovery when you break your hand though.
