I thought the film was brilliant and found it utterly harrowing. Of course it cannot include every detail in the book, but they tried as the film is over 2 hours long. I felt emotionally exhausted afterward. The book should be required reading at school. We need to build generations less accepting of and apathetic towards war.

My Mum just made me watch this. Very cut and paste, a dry and uninspiring adaptation of what I'm told is an important story of epic proportions.

I've just seen it, it did have great acting and cinematography, but little else. It keeps jumping straight to clichés, but I hope a 2nd viewing changes this.
