A side note, some of the early harnesses (or random) didn’t have the pin locker slid over. I was getting canbus time out codes intermittently. If you look inside both plug ends there is a grey slider bar. My slider was not put in the locked position and some of the pins vibrated out of touch. If this happens I’d check those. I have installed mine in a g30 5 series and am having issues with the fittings popping off on the hpfp side. What could I be doing wrong? I pull them back and slide on, they feel snug when I pull them by hand. Car reeks like fuel now.

@taranjitgill94 it's about the same process except the connector is going to be sideways.. some run the mhd connection towards the back of the engine I just have mine on the driver side where the fuel lines arch with no issues at all.. i would say DO NOT run full E85 as the car still leans out and you will get a couple puffs of smoke when coming to a stop making you think something else is wrong.

When putting the dme cover back on, did you have any issues. Mine is all covered except one spot on the harness, it’s outside the cover leaned against the strut tower, wires exposed, will that be an issue, or what type of cover can I put over it like a tape or

The wires run through the same gromet in the firewall. My cover installed just like normal

@@kern417I meant like at 16:44, my harness is for other plug in, on my 2018 340i xdrive auto. I couldn’t just squeeze the harness into that portion, the wire fit in but the original oem plug to the flex fuel plug side, that part is sitting out the cover under where your hand is, at 16:44

They both work. This one is easier to install and retrofit with future uogrades like a Motiv Reflex controller. Bm3 works with 6MT out of the box.

you can use motiv reflex with bm3 but its not fully integrated. mhd is better if you want to run motiv bc it can pop a cel if something is wrong. I don't personally use motiv so someone else that does might know more details.

The main difference is installation location. The sensor itself will work but you'll need to run wires to the front of the car to connect to the reflex

the b58 mhd kit only connects in the engine bay like shown. but there are other kits that connect to the lpfp from other companies. and the mhd kit for some other engines connects to the lpfp.

I’m confused, I live in California and don’t have access to 93 octane. I want to run the mhd stage 2 hpfp tune on e40. Which I can do mixing 91 with e85. But let’s say I’m running low on gas and there’s no e85 pumps near me, will the can flex fuel kit allow me to just run 91 octane on that same tune ? Will it auto adjust it for me ?

i would recommend flashing stage 2 91. there is no 91oct tune for stage 2 hpfp from mhd.

The loop fittings so it can fit multiple setups. The old Design was a cut-to-fit replacement fuel line so they needed different lines for different chassis

You'll need to reflash your map and set the ECA option that you're using. If you want to enable Flex fuel, you should change all of the map options to pump gas.

@@Nursingschavez actually yes I did, but it’s a lame solution. I just run the regular stage 2 91 map when I want to only run pump gas, and I run e40 hpfp map when I’m mixing e85. I contacted mhd, but their customer service is complete garbadge and they claim there should be a 91 option got the hpfp map, but as we can both see there clearly isn’t one. But yea that’s the only way that’s been working for me, and my install guy who’s really inclined with these cars says that’s perfectly fine.

I go through all stages now with Vargas GC+ stage 3 just ordered dorch flex kit 🙆‍♂️ I’m leaving in a Uk - very limited sources of ethanol in here Mostly overpriced racing fuel etc Do you know guys what particular/best type of ethanol needs to be mixed with 98 fuel? I’ve seen some people mix with just 98/99% bio ethanol or similar some others says b58 doesn’t like it? Any advices will be much appreciated!

Ethanol will work, now with bio-ethanol, from what I’m seeing 95% Ethanol (190 proof) stuff pops up. Mainly used in fireplaces. If the ethanol you’re referring to is 200 proof 99/100% ethanol, that will work. Either that or E98 or E85 race fuel , (VP X85, Ignite Red, Sunoco E85R) etc. If you’re looking for a more affordable option than race ethanol, try and see if there are any distillers that produce ethanol and see how the price compares with the race stuff.

I agree...this comment confused me. Kern is a master, but now I'm concerned about needing a custom tune with 91 and flexfuel kit...MHD has a multimap, stage 1,2 or 3 with 91,92 or 95 octane. I thought the beauty of this kit is taking out the guess work/custom tune piece, and now I'm doubting my setup...any clarification would be very much appreciated.

I did not say the kit does not support 91 octane. Ethanol content is separate from fuel octane. You can have E0 fuel thats anywhere from 87 octane to 93+. So you need to confirm that the E0 base map for your tune is not too aggressive for the pump gas you run. When I discussed with tuners, they specified that it was set for 93oct/98ron. The safest bet is to get a custom tune for whatever fuel you have, especially if you have ACN91 fuel.

Thanks for this review. BM3 kit is way easier to install. Its also not all plastic but nicely machined parts and quality lines. MHD kit is also restrictive and has no bypass for fuel to flow, just basic really.

Sadly for G chasis this flexfuel kit only works for chosen types of HPFP🥲So if I upgrade from Tu to a Dorch in the future then I have to get a new flexfuel kit 😅
