@@janvanzuilekom I'm not sponsored but tell them I sent you! Ha ha... After a year, still finding new sounds I dig in it.... Only use one other overdrive... I use 20+ sounds in the Ridge... Make sure and look up the MIDI stuff if you plan on using presets...just one preset at a time if you don't

For me too, the Ridge was the end of the overdrive quest. The only thing I put before it, is a compression to add a bit juice or a fuzz to add a lot more juice and play with my guitar's volume knob to cover a large span of sounds.Just need to get a MIDI controler now.

This is awesome to hear... Like I say in the videos I don't get anything from kernom to make them, but I really think they have the ability to fill a hole a lot of people seem to have... And it sounds like you're using it exactly for that kind of thing. Very cool. Really appreciate you taking the time to comment. This is exactly why I made this and talk about it.

Thanks for the video. I am amateur and have been using an HD500x since I resumed playing guitar (2 years ago). 6 months ago, I bought a Simplifier X to get a more organic sound connecting into my monitor speakers. It resulted in a great upgrade and I now use the HD500x as a mutli-effect gear connected in 4CM to my Simplifier... it is actually quite good... but... I am wondering if a pedal like this could significantly upgrade my sound (mostly blues rock - ie clean boost and overdrive) or am I good enough with my old hd500x. Also, if you go for a dream pedal like this one, I am worried about the rest (delay compressor)... what effect pedal to connect it to. How did you set-up your board? I love simplifier sound... any advice and point of you is welcome.
@BlugubriousMusic4 ай бұрын
First off, I really appreciate this thoughtful note and you sharing your thought process. I am pretty unfamiliar with the gear you mentioned in your current setup, so I would hate to make suggestions from ignorance. Maybe this could be helpful: Imagine your setup... now imagine being able to put just about any overdrive you have ever heard in front of your gear. That is what this does... assuming you have a MIDI controller and know how to use it. I would not buy this pedal for one sound. How I have it setup is a little tough to explain... I use a loop switcher and I have this on one channel... a couple of things before it (vibe&harm trem&octave) and some things after it (other couple of other dirt pedals&delays&reverbs). I had a cheap multi fx for a bit, but I did not love the overdrives... I am ok with the ones in my computer recording system. I often use the virtual stuff when I record... but to play... and if I gigged, it would be the setup above in the room. Feel free to shoot me an email - just name of channel at gmail - if you'd like more from me. Maybe send me some samples of playing and I could know better how this might fit.

i love mine, it has definitely cured...no, suppressed over drive gas. I use it with a hx stomp, between them they cover a lot of bases. Whats your thoughts on their fuzz unit?
@BlugubriousMusic11 ай бұрын
That's cool to hear... I didn't have as many bases needing covering but it definitely cured overdrive gas... I don't play fuzz much... The latest full song I uploades called 99 is one of the rare times I've used fuzz prominently... I have a boss FZ5... I would primarily use the octave ringer kind of tones. But I have those bases covered here with the Chicago stomp works pedal I did a video for. But if someone was a fuzz person they would probably love that MOHO. Analog and programmable!

A very enjoyable review Blu. So, just to be clear, buying this will make me meet a lot of famous people.... and my wife will love me practicing a bunch? I want one, of course. Sounds great, and quick to dial in. It's great to hear you talking and playing, and I appreciate the sincere honesty. Are you recording the audio with a miked amp, or the pedal directly into an audio interface, or combination of both? Sounds like both to me.
@BlugubriousMusic Жыл бұрын
From the top: Yes, buy the pedal and all your dreams come true! Ha ha. The only drawback if there is one is that to have lots of sounds at the ready, have to learn a little MIDI. It was daunting for me, but figured it out... other than that, if you just like to dial in tones on the fly and play... tons and tons of possibilities. In this video I am recording into my Behringer interface with two mics on my two amp speakers (not left/right, but one amp outside stereo, the other inside mono... that is my one guitar sound). Then I have a condenser mic (Rode NT1) near my mouth... all recording... but I lover vocal when just playing and lower guitar when talking just a little where they do not overlap. So, yes... both at once. I am 12 inches from the speaker cabinet... so, a little noise. Hope that clarifies... thanks for the interest and asking LH... ask any questions too... I would love to help, or you can email me too.

Ironically, I actually counsel in my real life, but man, I do not want to mislead anyone. So, I would probably want to know what your plan is for it. I have never played the CB pedal. I think I am right if I say this pedal is like having a tone of overdrives handy (assuming you use the MIDI preset options)... while I get the sense the CB is more hifi and production-centric. Not sure about the areas where they share possibilities as opposed to differing features. For me guitar tone is not an endless search - I want certain sounds when I play. I almost always use digital stuff when I produce. So, that is a guess, but my side of it is the Ridge is awesome for playing and quickly changing sounds on the fly. Hope that helps.
@kenmasters00710 ай бұрын
@@BlugubriousMusic thanks helpful. The biggest difference is the price. Used I can get a ridge for half the price of the CB. I think they cover similar territory and both have presets and midi. The CB also has some fuzz options but it EQ section is somewhat limited.
@BlugubriousMusic10 ай бұрын
@@kenmasters007 Well, EQ is where the Ridge excels to me. That whole pre and post EQ is pretty amazing in my opinion. I would probably feel comfortable saying the Ridge is way more than half the pedal. Feel free to ask any questions... if I can answer, I will.

There is a lot of truth in this, 😂 though I’m pretty sure I’ve convinced myself around the idea that a single drive source that can do everything still isn’t enough. Maybe some food for thought? If you run just drive up front then go to modulation etc, I can see that with a bunch of simple pedals but very early on I came in from the helix world where you can stick whatever wherever and I’m now frequently running parallel paths all over the place and playing in stereo, so minimal double the fun and a drive tacked onto the end of delay trails ( kinda like what you’d see Gilmore doing with eq pedals all over the place, well that really can be a thing ! I dunno. I’m not making music for public consumption, but I do often try to do cinematic work and multiple drives spread through the signal chains is awesome, maybe take your existing leftover drives and try it out?
@BlugubriousMusicАй бұрын
First off, thanks for the thoughtful comment. I really appreciate that you gave this real thought... even from your own perspective. If someone saw a video and it helped them - even if they went the opposite way I did, I am happy to help. I actually put my vibe and harmonic trem before the Ridge... I have always done that. It might be easier for this to be a complete solution for me because I almost prefer to use a tone in front of me instead of chasing one... I have about 4 core sounds... I have about 20 presets though on this that are flavors of those... Tube Screamer, Bluesbreaker, Klon, and some sort of Timmy or similar... I still may need a good higher gain Bluesbreaker as my import King of Tone clone is really great, but for the most part... the Ridge is all I need and I do not do a ton with effects... little vibe before and some reverb and delay after. I looked at the Helix, but really wanted analog. I use plugins like crazy to record, but when just playing... like analog in the room. Thanks again!

they must have sent this pedal to alot of youtubers...there sure are a lot of commercial for this pedal.....and funny how they all skip the part that you need midi to control it. . .it cannot replace more than 1 pedal without midi
@BlugubriousMusic8 ай бұрын
Two things - I was not sent it, I bought it. And I knew it had midi from KZbinrs which is the reason I bought it. Many did not mention it, but quite a few did that I saw. I guess we had different experiences. It has officially replaced 16 pedals for me (a couple are duplicates on different settings... like a Tube Screamer with more bass and one with less). Delivered for me and midi was neat to learn.
