Wow, you are the first person to be able to demonstrate why I’m pulling my shots in such a way that it makes sense. I am definitely your number 2 example because that’s the feeling I’ve trained to purposefully. For weeks, I’ve tried to have my trunk pull my arms through. Thanks so much for this. I’ll incorporate this drill today because I’m tired of missing so far left.

I have this exact issue. I struggled with a slice all my life. I've recently started lessons with a PGA pro. He strengthened my grip and taught me to rotate to square the club face. 30 or so years ago, I was taught to shift weight to my rear leg, and then shift to the lead leg while turning around that lead leg, releasing the club by turning my wrists and forearms to square the club face. Ever since learning the modern swing, my miss has been a pull left that draws/hooks after starting dead left. I think this video in particular will help me cure that mistake and hit the ball straighter.
@virtuestreams26163 жыл бұрын
This was an excellent instructional demonstration as it showed exactly the downward and forward movement of the club throughout the entire swing, as well as showed and explained the potential effects of the club’s face. Stopping and explaining each transition really helped me understand at which point my swing is less than ideal. This was helpful to me-thanks for sharing your knowledge.

This is by far the best tip I need now. My understanding is by avoiding pulling left, this also improves ball contact with the clubface by making the swing arc more oval other than circular round, helps better covering the ball (as indicated in one of your other video clips) by moving the hands as low as can be in the downswing (as indicated in your other clip). Results are great: more distance and more accuracy. MUCH APPRECIATION from Saudi Arabia to you, Kerrod Gray.

Great vid! I’ve seen this drill before but a big question is when you are pulling down from the top, what matchup is needed/shallowing technique so that the force pulling down on the grip doesn’t steepen the shaft to much and send the clubhead out over the top. Thank you so much in advance! Keep up the great content !

Just to add to my previous comment. Today I worked on this move dropping the arms. I found for my irons it worked great but when I went to the driver it took some work to get the release timed properly So I think with driver it requires morpractice in timing the release. I found that releasing earlier in that downward move worked best. Thanks again…

Great stuff. I was swinging well...last year...but starting the year with a consistent pull...even on half-swings! Very helpful and exactly an issue that is one of the last ones I really have to work through. It's very subtle, I only need to get my hand down about 2-3 inches and delay my hips a tiny bit to get into that position, but it's one of the more persistent challenges to try and fix. My swing has made a ton of progress lately, but this one is plaguing me just a bit :). I'll use this drill to see if I can get that last little hitch out of my swing.

Great instructional vid. Thanks so much. This is exactly me. The thing that has helped me a lot recently is putting an alignment stick in the ground, on my right side, at an angle and making sure I swing under it on the way through. I always knew about this drill but never used it. I was amazed how much it changed my swing path instantly knowing I had to get under the stick on the DS. The first part of my DS feels so slow when I drop my hands. Swing path is now in to out. Ball fight is lower with a slight draw (except when I get too quick with my hands and smash into the alignment stick 🤦♂️). Thanks again for the great content.

Really interesting. I'm a lefty and I think I have a similar swing fault. With the longer clubs I get a lot of shots going out to my left. I feel like my lead arm pulls and I hack the face toward the ball instead of dropping down like demo'd in the video. Eager to try out and get a feel for this.
@edwarddurkin6635 Жыл бұрын
You make the cause very clear. The "pro" cure for this looks difficult to achieve. I'll have to give the drop and rotate technique a try on the range. I seem to get pulls when I try to swing too fast.
@markdormer79596 ай бұрын
ffs..I used to play off 16, quit for a few years due to kids.......got back in and developed a beautiful draw, which is completely unwanted most of the time. I've been turning my shoulders more to the right at address to try and offset, but that just moves the low point further back and makes it worse. Trie to hit with a 'flatter' swing, but that just ruins the arc and takes everything way offline, making it all worse. I just could not figure out how to start right and let my natural draw bring me back on centre....... You just nailed it....... Drop my arms on the squat, which opens everything up to let the head have plenty 'square' time and space to flow through the impact. Now I'm back to hitting them right of target to bring them back in.....now I just need to moderate the draw control. Thank you.

This is exactly my problem. I gave up golf for 20 years, and taking it back up, I'm hittting the ball well most of the time, but I seem to pull all my short irons left, and sometimes pull longer irons and fairway woods as well. This would explain it, as my arms are locked to the body, and pulled downward by my leg drive and weight shift. You have explained the solution perfectly, and I see exactly what you are doing. Now, can I replicate it without hitting the ball fat? We shall soon see. ;)

What's really frustrating is when you start pulling shots on the course and nothing you do can fix it during the round. Then you get on the range to work it out and not pull a single shot. For me, if a swing fault shows up during a round, that round is over.

Swing too hard for one at least for me. But other than that I’m interested in trying this. First tee 327 par 4 Tight fairway so I hit just a little puncher out to get on the fairway be dead center at about 60 to 110 out depending on what I’ve used, then boom to the left like Beyoncé. Bogey what should be a par. Then second hole the pull is already in play. Tee shot I have to get at least 260-270 but pull left into a tree. Shot 78 my lowest 18 score, other day I had great chance of beating it I had a 37 on front 9 then 45. Because 2 holes

I only get the pills when I’m trying to hit a draw. I play a beautiful fade but instead of playing what I can I get in my head and always try play the ball both direction. I just feel like I got to low 80s high 70s playing this shot but if I could get both directions working for me I could become scratch or at least break from a mid handicap to low. I just want to be able to have the confidence to know the ball will at least be close to where I intend it to be and stop having to save myself so much

I’ve found that if I concentrate on keeping my right elbow in close to my body on the down swing it positions the club face right on target. Whenever I forget to pull my right elbow in I get inconsistent iron shots. Is this what you’re trying to show in this video? I have no formal coaching, just spend a lot of time at the range trying to see what works best for my height and swing and would love to hear if I’m on track with what your showing.

@@kerrodgraygolf that explains it exactly for me. I started doing this in my swing because I found it easier to think just about my right elbow position and this minor tweak gave me big results. I think for a long time I over complicated my swing with all the different information out there and decided I needed to work on what works for me rather then what may works for someone else. Thanks for the great content.
