The blur, the knockout, the link, and the launch 1 is all kershaw can sell me at this point. The ganzo 760 is a damn good purchase and is addictive to flip.

The Copper Natrix has D2 steel and that’s great, but I wish the whole series of Natrix had D2, and no assisted opening! Another Kershaw fail in my opinion and I was a Kershaw loyalist for years!

After watching a few reviews I have come to the conclusion that Kershaw really missed the boat with this one. They had an opportunity to really knock it out of the park and have one of the best buget knives of the year.

I'm a Kershaw lover but can't help feel disappointed with this knife as well. Look at the stop pin. It's in a very very thin part of the G10 and is a thin stop pin. I just can't carry a knife If I feel it's not well made. I love the look as well. I have the ZT 0770 and love it!

Kershaw is really good at giving disappointments as of late..I got a cqc-7k because I've been looking at Emerson's and wanted to get the over all feel for the wave before dropping the money..man it's probably one of the worst knives I've ever got even for 22.00 if I'd got it sight seen I wouldn't have paid 2.50 for it ..

_Thanks for taking one for the team!_ It really does look like all the elements are there from the 0777, but the execution is so lacking. I've always thought Kershaw does their speedsafe #$%&! as a way to keep from cannibalizing ZT sales. But the knife landscape has changed a _lot_ in the last 2 years. This would have been a _perfect opportunity_ for Kershaw to step up to the plate and answer Kizer and WE as well as those you compare, but just a missed opportunity. This knife was supposed to be an _answer,_ but instead it's a question. _Why?!?_

Your never going to win the speed assist argument. Non knife people love it and they outnumber knife people hundreds maybe thousands (or more) to one. Also I think you made a case FOR the natrix (not against it), every knife you showed was much heavier and you showed that kershaw already makes a similar heavier knife (thus that they need a lighter one). And thanks for showing the strobe, I have the fixed blade version and love it and now I'm going to get the folder.

Well I really like Kershaw, but I for some reason didn't really like the way the natrix looked. It just had so much to live up to, and I knew in my gut it wouldn't meet expectations. On the bright side at least ruike is killing it and crkt this year has some solid stuff. The fossil black with veff serations will soon be mine. Great review LTK!

I'm confused. Why do you hate spring assisted?
@LuvThemKnives
@LuvThemKnives 7 жыл бұрын
Lungorthin Several reasons.... the feel of a strong release is less controlled and then you have the spring mechanism that may not hold up over time. If I want an automatic.... then I'll buy one. I'd be nice if they'd offer these A/O models in a manual option. That's all I'm saying.... I'm not a big fan of automatic knives either.... Just a personal preference.
@lungorthin4138
@lungorthin4138 7 жыл бұрын
Fair enough. I'm from Canada so assisted is the closest we get to an auto knife. And I carried a CRKT My Tighe for about 4 years and it never failed to deploy, but that's a leaf spring as opposed to the Kershaw speed safe. I also do like flipper knives, and I have both of the CRKT Fossil knives but I found the scale texture tears up the inside of my pockets. Thanks for the reply

LTK- Epic fail by KAI after using this model to tweak Microtech. The tweak turned into embarrassment. Like you said, a waste of a great design.

I've appreciated your unique knife commentary for awhile but ,I am amazed at the vitriol that you are throwing at this knife! Most knives these days are over priced... especially Benchmade and custom ones (many custom knives are made by cnc machines....that's custom?). The China based knife companies you are touting, are cheaper because their workers are lowly paid and the companies are subsidized by their government. The 7007 looks cool and it gives those us us who don't want to pay an arm and a leg for a ZT knife an alternative! Plus, most people are NOT farmers, policeman or hard use knife wielders. We just need something to cut the mail open with.

7Steels if you just want the matrix because you can't afford the 0770, then that's one thing, and you'll enjoy it for what it is. The problem is that this is just a slight variation on the standard kershaw "black handle, satin blade, 8cr, speedsafe" knife they've been doing for like a decade, except they want double the price for this one because HURR FUCK TONY LOL. Seriously, you want a sheepsfoot? Flinch. Rove. Like that precise tip? R.J. Tactical. Pico. If you just like the knife and don't care about the price, then hell, buy two! But if you just want something to open mail, why would you waste an extra twenty bucks on this thing when any other kershaw works just as well?
@slidetek
@slidetek 7 жыл бұрын
Xavier, LOL. Kershaw builds some great knives, some in a much higher price bracket. This was supposed to be a shot over the bow of Microtech. Instead a turd splashed in the water about 300 yards astern. The "in joke" turned into a joke. This was an opportunity to build a better knife and answer the Chinese competition. The people buying this are the ones who get the joke, but I doubt many day-to-day people will buy this if they're presented other (better) choices. I feel LTK's pain, because when this was announced I was ready to buy it just because. I'm getting a little tired of Kershaw intentionally crippling knives to not compete with ZT. But this was more a finger in the eye of the ZT fan base than it was to Marfione.

Like many others I like this over all design. But for me it is too small and probably too light weight. Also I think this price point with Kershaw at least is getting a little blah and boring. At this price I am already looking at the Chinese unbranded stuff that is only $20.00 more but offers titanium and D2 blade steel. Kershaw is really dying with their American made offerings. This could have easily been done as a made in USA model around $80.00 to $100.00 Instead it appears as though KAI wants to relegate Kershaw to the lower price points and ZT to the much higher price range. With no in between "higher quality" Kershaw USA products. Which is a shame because Kershaw has done some stellar USA models in the last decade.
@slidetek
@slidetek 7 жыл бұрын
Spot on. KAI has got to get their heads out of the weeds and stop worrying about competing with ZT and start worrying about _competing with the competition._ Once again, they've purposely crippled what could have been a decent offering. All they've accomplished here was tick off the people that were in on the joke, and make a knife that won't appeal to people to whom it's just another knife in a sea of CRKT, Ganzo, Ruike, Real Steel... Guaranteed, Tony Marfione is laughing his ass off.

@BazonBlades 7 жыл бұрын
Mark Gray, Yes I know KAI owns Kershaw along with ZT. That is why I stated that KAI is using Kershaw as low end and ZT as higher end. In the past Kershaw was alloted more "high end" models. Now they are almost exclusively lower end. Including their current made in USA models. I miss the days of the higher end Kershaw folders. Now the higher end stuff is pretty much all in the ZT line.

I think it's a bit unfair to bash SpeedSafe on such a cheap knife. If they were going to make an unassisted flipper for this price it probably wouldn't flip very well. Even the Skyline as a small unassisted knife requires a wrist flip to open half the time. I'd prefer a nice smooth unassisted flipper that closes like butter and falls shut, but are we going to get that for $40? Unlikely. I think anyone who wants a good flipper and a similar design will just save up for a ZT. This is budget country.
@LuvThemKnives
@LuvThemKnives 7 жыл бұрын
Polyfusia The Kershaw Strobe is $20 and has KVT bearings and flips great. And how about all the CRKT knives that I show in the video that are in the $40 and under range ? They have IKBS and flip great. Just saying.......
@Polyfusia
@Polyfusia 7 жыл бұрын
I generally prefer CRKT knives to Kershaws. I wonder if they choose not to use assisted opening in their knives as a preference, or because they don't have a system they think is good enough. Either way my Kershaw collection probably won't grow far beyond a Skyline and a Link. I might get the AM-4. Otherwise I'm saving my shekels for a ZT Sinkevich 0452cf.

Polyfusia I have a blue and a red Kershaw link with S35VN from House of Blades. I really like them. Great quality. Made in the USA as well. I'm not thrilled that they are speed safe but I can live with it on those knives.

The Natrix never appealed to me. Digging up the Marfione shit this long after it should be water under the bridge is just childish, they just got done with the whole sub-framelock stuff with Brous that I thought was completely uncalled for, and God damn if I'm not sick as hell of black handled satin finished Kershaw speedsafe knives with shitty chinese 8cr13mov. Then $40 for it? You can throw a dart at a kershaw catalog and hit something that's basically the same knife for half the price. I mean you can spend $20 bucks more and get a Knockout, which is a hell of a lot better of a knife. $40 isn't what it used to be. Too many chinese companies that have their shit together these days. If you don't care about american made you've got a thousand options now.

Xavier couldn't agree more. Sue Marifone or stfu already. Was it blatant? Maybe but nobody really gives af. Kershaw has some great blades. This was almost one of them. Cheap and nasty as a gas station knife? Lost all credibility with that statement. The G10 is thin because the original 777 design had thin scales; I can see you complaining about the cheap carbon fiber scales on the OG too... If you don't like AO, why buy a knife with AO and then complain about it? You might be surprised to learn that, even though your taste in knives is very sophisticated and you hate AO, Kershaw sells more AO than not, by a large measure. The Leek was the best selling knife around for many years, and that is the Kershaw heritage that you allude to - the old Pete Kershaw ranch knives never sold in the numbers that the Leek does. The Natrix is a good replica of the 777 and for $39 street price, hard to beat. Hit up your local Love's truck stop and buy a couple of those knives and then do a side by side comparo. Let's see how those knives hold up agains the Natrix. Good camera work and audio, by the way - I like that it is easy to hear you and your video is sharp and clear - I thank you for your taking time to do the review.

I appreciate the well thought out comments. Why did I review this knife when I dislike A/O knives ? Because I like the design and I do like the Kershaw link.....so I was wanting to give it a try. Huge disappointment...... You say that the Natrix is hard to beat for the money ? I disagree. So many other knives,including many CRKT and even some of the other Kershaw knives are a much better deal for the money. That's why I showed a bunch of other alternative knives on my video. But I understand that the design of the Natrix is attractive. I wish that Kershaw would have done better by it.
