I don't think he's one of, I think he might be. EVERY interpretation of his I've heard is both original and also somehow, definitive.. it's like he is the reincarnation of Paganinni, Wieniasky, Vieuxtemps, Sarasate, Kreisler, Ysasaye, Heifetz, Elman, Oistrach, with the passion of Pearlman, Fire of Sarah Chang, but the technical perfection of Hillary Hahn, and musical sensibilities that are undefinable, but always on point modern and original. In short, had i not interacted with and seen him live on a zoom meeting, I would almost believe he couldn't possibly be a real person.

The best renditions of Zigeunerweisen is always the ones where you don't think about how difficult the piece is and how skillful the violinist is. The best renditions are the ones where you are moved by the music. This is one of those.

Cool arrangement. Leong is truly one of those rock star players, with such a unique and exciting interpretation of a classic that is supposed to be quite expressive. Most players kinda just play it the same way it has been for the last 100 years. Plus, he's a snappy dresser.

Certainly that harmonic is quite easy to spot out so it's natural you would notice it not as present! I managed to hear it faintly but yes I think I agree. Definitely should not detract from his stellar performance, at least it isn't out of tune or a mismatch of articulation!

That may be so but it is written in the violin part that it is impossible to play this piece correctly because it is called “Gypsy Airs” and could not possibly hold true to the composer’s intentions if you didn’t play more freely and with more rubato with a decent amount of respect to what’s there. Kerson does a good job of adding just enough freedom to where he can perfectly interpret it the way it was written and the way he wants to play it!

Sometimes his violin sounds almost like a singing saw. Very beautifully performed
That was great, had me in tension for most of the piece, goosebumps in one moment. I couldn't help noticing the body language, in the beginning in some moments you looked careless, a little bit like you thought you were too cool for this, but in truth absolutely focused and on point. Later on it turned into just looking completely relaxed and focused in some moments, I can imagine that would be a good mental place to play from. But what do I know, this is very subjective.

It's almost as if people can choose to put a fresher spin on an incredibly overplayed piece, regardless of how the composer themselves would've played it. If he had played it in a safer & more traditional manner, you Russian shits would be crying about his interpretation being "too boring." What the hell is this comment? @@ОксанаПисьменная-р1ъ Your commentary is kinda ironic knowing Zigeunerweisen is just a free arrangement from original hungarish composers pieces by Sarasate. After the 1st sheet publication, protests came from Hungary. Sarasate had to apologise and a second publication was issued with thanks to the original authors.
