I was in an emotionally unstable state far past depression where I went from numbness to collapsed on the floor crying in absolute misery to numbness every 15 minutes. I sought interveinous ketamine treatment in 2016 when it was experimental and only a few doctors were trying it. It made me feel fuzzy afterwards, but restabilized me and rather than continue with smaller doses of ketamine, I spent my time after the treatment session to look into what got me to be there and I put effort in to fixing my life (paired with therapy). Ketamine absolutely saved me from suicide. I have accomplished a lot in my life since then and now am in a great mental space. I hope other people are able to find the same success with their treatments.

A traumatic event has different impacts on different people. But it removes you makes you feel far away from everybody. We all have that one in common. Love you guys man.

Unfortunately, that’s what many people I know and that knows me don’t understand. I had to ghost a lot of people for various reasons. But, traumatic events is the common denominator as to why. Plus, I’m just tired of being disrespected. Now, I just simply don’t care if they know personally if I’m dead or alive. It actually makes me happier with them not knowing. What I do know is I have no interest in going back or doing the same stupid sh*t that got me to those traumatic events. I just feel better knowing I shut out all that toxicity that continuously contaminated my well being.

Theo, thank you so much for spreading awareness of this. I've used ketamine to treat my depressive episodes for upwards of 10 years. I can safely say it has saved my life multiple times. Other depression treatments have historically made me extremely suicidal. This is going to help so many people. Praise God baby.

@@conradbarrett6 first of all, thank you for your concern. +1 faith in humanity(especially for a KZbin comment haha), this is how we do the work together as a people. I have a genetic predisposition to severe depression, along with growing up poor, fatherless, and with a mother who simply could not retain presence of mind dealing with her own depression and addiction issues due to lifelong parental(emotional/psychological) and spousal(physical+) abuse/abandonment. I would say my depression really kicked in around 5th grade actually, which was the first time I attempted suicide. I was first prescribed an ssri at age 14, which I discontinued in two weeks as it actually ramped up my suicidal ideation to being literally the only thing I could think about. It was frightening. I thus began experimenting with psychedelics at age 15, which also deserve a lot of the credit. I first discovered ketamine at age 19 I believe, but it has been a long journey to get to the point where I could make progress without guided therapy in conjunction. It is not for everybody, as you really have to be intentional about doing the internal work. It is not a permanent fix, but the effects do last for about 3 months at a time before I begin to slip back into it. It is just something I have to live with unfortunately, but I am making progress. I have been doing CBT & DBT(cognitive & dialectic behavioral therapy) every weekday for the past 7 or so months in a group setting, thanks to my state's incredible detox and recovery program. I am now 226 days clean from serious, yet functional heroin(6 years) & alcohol(10 years) addiction. I really struggle with the lack of humanity in the world and particularly American society amongst my peers. I have a lot of hope for us as a people, which puts me in a position to lose all of it on a daily basis. Thank you once again though, for I need to see the good in people as often as possible. Hopefully my story can help somebody else who is struggling. Much love.

@@guiseppe6215 I know there have been clinics popping up in California at the very least. It is incredibly expensive though, which is disheartening. It is fantastic to see progress being made though. For people asking if the treatment "lasted," the answer is yes. Dr. Pooler led me through ketamine therapy a year ago and I've experienced unimaginable relief. I've felt more stable and optimistic for the last year, and I can't remember feeling this way since before I was 12. 15 years of depression really fucks you up but this treatment has helped me more than any medicine. I've been doing it since the beginning of April for long term/treatment resistant depression. It isn't a silver bullet but has definitely been a helpful tool for me. My negative thought cycles and negative self talk have been interrupted for the most part. Hell, I'm lifting again for the first time in years and making plans to finish college, so this shit must be doing something right. The infusions are intense though, I straight K-holed during one session and experienced full ego death. Funniest thing is coming down. You're still out of your gourd on K and the nurse starts talking about your next appointment time, etc, and you can only muster a response like "yeah next appointment that's awesome, yeah"

I have chronic pain & depression. I've had 4 ketamine infusions for c/pain in hospital for 10 days which was suppose to last 3-6 months but not for me, it only lasts a week. But while having the infusion I cried all night because it was the 1st time I ever felt my depression lifted & felt happy & peace. I'm in Australia so it's different laws here. Thanks for talking about this Theo & Dr Pooler.

I messed around with ketamine, MDMA and psilocybin a decent amount back in the day. Although people partied with it and that's where I started I realized early on I could use it for some sort of therapeutic treatment, little did I know at the time I was self medicating. I have friends now who are getting diagnosed with actual depression and taking hardcore medication, it sucks to see. I feel great, I've honestly never been at a better point in my life despite everything going on in the world. There's something to be said about all of these substances if used in the right way. It's been at least 8 years since I've used any of it but it worked wonders in the long term. Amazing to see what's happening now with legitimate treatment done by doctors, not some stupid high school kid self medicating in his bedroom after his parents are asleep.

Man, that's so relevant to my situation... I've been dealing with severe chronic pain every day for over a decade now. I've dealt with Crohn's since 9 and had to have my entire colon removed cause of it and my body started attacking my joints instead leading to severe psoriatic arthritis. I've developed allergies to the main immunosuppressants so I'm really on my last option and you can develop an allergy to them at anytime. My doctors mainly just monitor me and say there's nothing more that can be done. I'm kinda torn since I'm alive because of medical science. But it also feels _ridiculously_ primitive still. So many things just can't be resolved and people are left to suffer. Medical science is completely FULL of trial and error. That's basically the majority of it. "Oh.. That didn't work? Well.. We can try this and if that doesn't work we'll try this or _this_ ." Just throwing darts at the wall and seeing what sticks. I'd think "Come on. It's just arthritis. People have had it for centuries and centuries. But they can't really do much about it and if it's severe enough you're screwed.

@@whitestguyuknow my heart goes out to you, - is true that the science of ‘medicine’ (which is what conventional doctors are trained in - treating symptoms with medicine or, surgeons w/ surgery) - is insufficient to heal people or to prevent human suffering. I am just so sorry this is happening to you; and, it can happen to any of us. 💕 ☮️ 💪 Hang in there - and if you can ‘’access’’, explore alternative - ie. Chinese medicine, naturopathic, etc etc - but that costs big $$$$$ , AND THAT’s a crime, and is offensive. Your live is worth everything. 💔
@JohnDoe-sp3dc3 жыл бұрын
@@susanthursdays5008 You should seriously reassess the level of authority you have when it comes to giving medical advice. "Alternative Medicine" is not medicine and it doesn't treat any health problems. You're giving desperate people false hope and even worse, you're helping malicious people take advantage of those desperate people. There are serious contradictions in the views that you hold. For instance you say that the medical industry is unable to heal people or prevent human suffering with MODERN medical science; Yet, you also say that historical/natural/traditional medical treatments CAN heal people and prevent human suffering. If that were true then we should see life expectancy decrease and human suffering increase as we approach the modern era where modern medical treatments are the norm. But that's not the case Susan, is it? What we see in reality is life expectancy INCREASING and human suffering DECREASING in direct correlation with technological advancement. While it is true that Mental Health treatment is in its infancy and has largely failed to provide adequate care for our societies most vulnerable and under-served communities, that doesn't mean we should throw out all of medical science in exchange for demonstrably ineffective and malicious hocus pocus. The real crime is the horrible medical advice you just gave. A persons treatment plan is between them, their care provider, and their loved ones; It does not involve you.
