I have been in nutritional ketosis daily for the past 4 months. Down 37 lbs, but started chemo this week. In spite of the steroids I remained in ketosis and my highest daily glucose was only 141. I am using the metabolic flexibility concept to feed my healthy cells and starve my cancer. In addition, I did not experience and nausea, vomiting, fatigue, or constipation. Yay, ketosis! 🥓👍🥳

I follow Tom's videos. They helped me lose 98 lbs. in about 18 months. Due to the pandemic I gained back 37 lbs. I am now at 297 lbs and I am preparing to get back on a Keto diet and considering Atkins Keto diet. Tom is one of best motivators on the internet. I would like to get to 250 lbs. for now. I started at 357 lbs. on a 6 ft body and I was at 260 lbs. pre-pandemic. I plan on doing diet and exercise as before with some weight lifting. I am 64 years old but I don't feel like it. Best Wishes to you guys.

I saved this video to my playlist and I will be referencing it and taking notes. I watched so many of your videos since my family member had a stroke. I am trying to help them take better care of their health and my health too since I am at risk for diabetes due to genetics. Thanks for sharing this invaluable information. I truly believe that a keto diet is one of the best diets to try. Looking forward to learning more from you!

Mild caloric deficit before an intense fasted workout it is a boost of energy for me, especially on endurance workouts..I usually have keto vegan FMD the day before an intense, fasted workout and I have massive energy the day after and the doms are little and I can go back to exercise fast/fasted soon...I cycle in and out of keto veagn with keto I do not feel the need to carb load anymore..I bake my own keto vegan bread and it is a bomb of energy...I need potassium, potassium is for me the most important electrolyte...I am deeply keto adapted...

This is exactly what I have noticed as a former diabetic, and trying to build mass without carbs. Slight carb "50 grams" just before workout would allow growth without oxidative pain during recovery. Pain is horrible if I over load on carbs"100+", most in my joints but muscles are weak for a couple days. very strong during that period, but the gains were not worth the suffering for my system. Losing weight is extremely easy on keto with OMAD fasting, gaining muscle is almost as much work managing my Macro's as the workout itself. I find 3 days a week adding a 16 oz Ribeye at lunch in addition to my normal Maintenance Dinner worked for me to gain muscle and strength. As always your mileage may vary. Great info!!!

At 32:33, Dom totally confused me with his explanation. I did not quite understand what he was saying about his macro intake. He said he fat loads at night, but then he said he gets fat throughout the day, but backs off of fat post workout, right? He then said in the morning, he gets a lot of fat to be fat-fueled throughout the day. So, does he focus on protein in the morning and throughout the day then fat load at night?

Mostly Doesn’t matter!!!!!!!! Bro Science says it does, but it mostly doesn’t. My 16 year added 100 pounds to his squat from start of January to Mid April, from 400 to 500. Bench went 250 to 330 during the same period at 6’4”. He does OMAD Monday to Friday ; School, 2 hours with Football Team (HIIT, to stretch, to footwork drills, to weights), Home, 50 grams whey isolate with a scoop of Insta Blast (EAA + Salts), bath room, Shower, big Keto / Adkins dinner, home work, bed! Then does a cross fit work out at 8am Saturday. Then he does 3 or 4 big meals Saturday & again on Sunday that are mostly Keto. I’ve watched that post workout dinner be 1-1/2 pounds of hamburger, he is blasting 200 grams of protein in a coupe hours on some weekdays. If he wasn’t absorbing it, he wouldn’t be growing like a weed. He hasn’t had it but if you get too much for your stomach to digest, you will get sulfur farts because it partially digest in the large intestine instead of the stomach & small intestine. Pre & Probiotics can help this. Also can the foam pee which means your pissing out some protein but he hasn’t had that either. One other thing, he does 5 grams of creatine with food once daily. Think about it. The Bros say 1 grams per pound of body weight & 20 to 30 grams max per meal. That’s 250 grams for him, he’d have to eat 8.333 meals a day at 30 grams max, literally less than every 2 hours for the sub 16 hours he’s awake, The Bros usually make no sense when one thinks about it.

How quickly after having too many carbs do you have insulin resistance?
@elcapitanian
@elcapitanian 2 жыл бұрын
Insulin resistance is a chronic situation. It takes time. Also it depends on a number of other factors like total caloric intake and activity level. It's not a simple answer.

Do you ever eat,, or when would it be okay to eat a "regular" meal such as a Ribeye steak with a baked potato, a bit of grass fed butter, some mushrooms, and some veggies ALL at the same time; instead of separating the fats from the carbs, or keeping protein separate, etc? If your goal is to burn fat, AND build muscle.

Totally on board with the benefits of a keto diet, but a few things I'd like to add: 1. Carbs are delicious and food isn't just fuel for the body, but for the soul as well. 2. A short workout might be more beneficial to improve some specific weightlifting movements, but working out might be the only exercise someone does, so unless someone is a competitive weightlifter, eating carbs and having longer workouts will equate to more total exercise which will be more beneficial for their overall health in the long run. 3. Net change in body fat stores is dictated by energy balance, not hormone levels.

Dr Dom consumes 200g of protein a day. Wouldn't that throw one out of Ketosis? A ketogenic Diet is only 15-20% protein.
@richardmiddleton7770
@richardmiddleton7770 2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the protein source but it is true that protein turns into glucose but whether that affects ketosis is debatable. Glucagon increases when consuming protein which counteracts the insulin response (I think!) Thomas has a video on that subject.

@Emily Stornetta yeah, most likely he was referring to using ketones efficiently after a month or 2 as the body can really use fat as fuel instantly. It is related to certain enzymes upregulation which takes some time. Even if you are fat adapted, u will never get the pump u used to have eating carbs.

Not true, explosivity or heavy low rep lifting uses a different energy system. It's only when you go beyond say 3 reps do you start using glycogen. Glycogen is also restored from protein and is also preserved better when on a low carb diet.
