I feel like I have been missing out on these newer Keto channels. Four years ago I was die hard, dropped 80 pounds, went off all diabetes meds...and then one day...I ate a potato...and the rest was downhill from there. Four years later (with my wife in stage 3 kidney failure, ulcers forming in her eyes, and fatty liver disease...all after a severe stroke) I'm back. And the variety of channels is a boon to people like me! These keto fries...wow! I made them yesterday for my wife who then decided we were having hamburgers and French fries for supper tonight. There you go. I had to come back and get the recipe again so wanted to make sure I left a comment. I love your channel Dennis! We are on a fixed income but when the car gets paid off I am going to be a Paetron subscriber. Thank you for entertaining me and coming up with incredible recipes!!

Ok, Dennis, you have done it again. This recipe is BEYOND FREAKING BELIEF! I tried Heavnely Fan. They were good. I tried KetoFocus with her addition of some Mashed Potato Flavoring. A little better still. I think the choice of fat makes a HUGE difference in the taste. But you have NAILED THIS!!!! Ok, I cheated a tiny bit...instead of using regular corn starch I used resistant corn starch (I have both but opted to take a chance with the lower carbs). And I also cheated by adding 6 drops of the OOO Mashed Potato Flavoring. I cannot believe how crispy they are!!! But now I have a bit of a probelm. We're grilling burgers this evening - which is why I wanted to made these today. But I made them too early and at the rate I am going there will be none left by the time the burgers are off the grill! 😂 ALL HAIL THE BLACK TIE!!!!!

I know you can make an onion ring that you will share with the world and I am sure it will be better than mine, although, using your recipe as a base, mine came out pretty dern good.

Do you have the studies that say it's toxic within reasonable amounts?
@BlackTieKitchen3 жыл бұрын
So that study is behind a paywall - and judging by the abstract, it seems like a meta study where they picked the data they wanted to present. No study can actually carry out all those effects and do so scientifically (to my knowledge). This study was also linked on that page: www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/10942912.2017.1295260?src=recsys and it too has some cited studies that are behind paywalls. The thing to note is the dosing in these studies - you give that same dosage of any substance and youre likely to observe issues. For the study where they gave mice a 2mg/g dosing - I did the math for a 180lb man with the same dosing - it's over 160g of MSG. Do you know what the recommended daily intake of sodium is for an average adult? 2.3g. if you start giving people 160g+ of sodium chloride, you will also start to see issues. Id go deeper into this, but like I said, unfortunately, most are behind paywalls 😕
@BlackTieKitchen3 жыл бұрын
180 lbs = 81646.6g 2mg = 0.002g 81646g*.002 = 163.29g How is my math incorrect? You also state that a little bit is toxic, so then you would agree that these studies with astronomical amounts are surely going to cause issues?
@bigbertha40803 жыл бұрын
@@ramichahin2 ...... why are you addressing Dennis under my comments?
@paulcrescenti55812 жыл бұрын
Love the videos. The people who complain about MSG giving them headaches are the same people that dump grated parmesan cheese all over their pizza, never reporting any ill effects. Parmesan cheese is a natural source of MSG and why shaking it on foods makes the food flavor pop. Number of Japanese long time consumers of MSG in the hospital = zero.
@BlackTieKitchen2 жыл бұрын
Its always interesting yo read the studies that people say "MSG causes these horrible things!" Because when you actually read the studies.... The dosages are off the charts. Anything at that dosing will have issues, which is why we do those studies - to find out when things become dangerous 🤷♂️

Having "gone keto" seven months ago (and by accident initially) has changed me in so many ways. Watching all these creative videos both in their creation and in the process of thinking up new ways of converting more conventional foods into something else and something low carb has turned me into someone that just always loved to cook to an some kind of food adventurer. I mean this in a totally different way than trying new cuisines or styles of cooking but at a fundamental level. Only in this past seven months has my pantry been filling up with guar gum, xanthan gum, a myriad of nut flours, and on and on. The irony too is that my diet has become so rich and satisfying that because of the smaller portions I can actually afford the luxury items to accomplish these new recipes (e.g. setting aside $25 for that dry aged prime NY strip instead of my local market's $10 choice.) Cheers to all of you keto KZbin creators that have opened my eyes to new levels of experimentation.

Hey Dennis, I love watching your videos. Steering people to the lower carb options is fantastic and we need to see more of them! Your videos show great variety and techniques which help people easily convert to different ways of making changes to our own diets. The low carb/keto lifestyle is something I have researched and implemented in my lifestyle. I feel that it’s important to learn how ingredients affect Our bodies so when I saw you using MSG and stating it’s keto friendly which it’s not, I wanted to point this out earlier but I thought there would be people raising Awareness that MSG spikes insulin and will knock you out of ketosis. So far I haven’t seen anyone mention it for some reason. I might suggest to let the fries sit over night with Himalayan pink salt To achieve the flavour your looking for. Anyways, I have subscribed because I believe that your on the right track and appreciate your videos 🙂 Having said that, Dr.Berg has videos on MSG and Thomas Delauer has videos on ingredients to avoid, just for those who’d like to see some info about it. Please keep the great vids,looking forward to seeing more 👍

I’ve got an identical sounding doorbell so when I watched the first few of your videos, every time your doorbell went off I’d be heading to the front door! I’m still automatically halfway out my chair until I see you walk to your door! 😂🤣😁👍🏻

Lol I was expecting her to come out with her new husband and little potatoes. Loved how you made them look like french fries.

I know what I am going to make! I am going to throw in a little psyllium husk for fun on a batch to see if I will get that truffle taste. I will let you know how it goes. Thank you again for another masterpiece.

Enthralling entertainment with a good dose of MSG and a sprinkling of cornflour! I approve! (except you'd have to open a restaurant as there is no way I'm fiddling to make French fries)

How good is this channel! Two new subscribers. Me in the UK and my friend in the US. Very funny. Must be a Monty Python fan?

LOL with the tale. Super cute. Top quality fun and entertaining. I can’t wait to try the recipe (just have to find duck fat here in Brazil, or buy Duck, make it French style and get the fat).
@BlackTieKitchen3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gabì! Try it with olive oil first - if you like the recipe, then try to find the duck fat!

I have a really hard time finding new ways to describe the joy your videos bring me. :) The great recipes (that we all know takes countless failed batches) matched with the extraordinary entertainment value of your videos....this entire channel is a gem. I only wish sometimes that I had just stumbled upon you.... with hours and hours of binging ahead of me. ;) I may put my feet up for some re-runs. ;) #theworldneedsWAYmoreofyou #andSteve. ❤️

You are full of surprises. I'm curious, are your videos inspired by Good Eats? They have that informative but comedic element to them. Thanks!

It likely had an impact as I used to watch the show quite a bit as a kid!

Ok, make these last night to accompany some mussels, fantastic. We had (non keto) friends over for dinner, they loved them as well! Since you made me buy this glucommanan stuff, looking for ways to use it up, seems like a good substitute for xanthan gum? Your pizza recipe next. Keep up the good work.
@BlackTieKitchen3 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed them! You can also make a bunch an freeze them for whenever you want them! The glucomannan will also work for the pizza dough as well (1:1 ratio).
