Allulose is a rare sugar. What I've read and heard on podcasts is that essentially, this means it has 1 carbon molecule that's reversed from cane sugar. The body doesn't digest it like cane sugar, and it naturally works with the GLP-1 hormone helping you feel full and subdues hunger. It's something like 2-3 Tsp a day. Caveat... it can give you diarrhea if you overdue or introduce it too quickly. I'm an insulin dependent type 2 diabetic, and unlike other sugar substitutes, Allulose does not raise my BS. Love you guys!
@ketotwins3 күн бұрын
thanks for the info! We really like allulose
@lorim.41363 күн бұрын
Allulose is great! People can only metabolize 10% of it which means there is really only 0.4 net carbs in a teaspoon (such that labeling laws allow them to round down to zero). Unfortunately I would use 3 tablespoons or more in a pint of low carb "ice cream", 9 x .4 = 3.6 carbs not counting what might be in a topping like homemade honey, butterscotch or fudge sauce (which are definitely allulose to prevent crystallization). I too get tummy problems with allulose (as well as anything else people cannot metabolize) at quantity and judiciously use some pure sucralose solution drops in things that never get heated to 195F (where it degrades). Allulose does perpetuate my sweet cravings more than bitter/grassy stevia, so a "reset" for me generally means avoiding it for a while. I am T2 managed (not reversed, sigh) by eating keto/lowcarb and no longer on meds/insulin with my last HbA1C 5.4. I am very grateful that scientists figured out how to reproduce the exact molecule of rare sugar using corn and an engineered enzyme.

@lorim.4136 good job on the A1C! I got mine down to 5.8 since June from 8.2 on a combo lifestyle of carnivore and Keto. I am struggling with my weight loss, tho. It wasn't the priority for me as my A1C needed addressing and making the transition to this as a lifestyle and not just a goal. This video is encouraging for the times when Keto "friendly" becomes too easy to resist... and simpler eating keeps you satiated and craving free.

Hi girls. I think you girls have the absolute best attitude regarding the keto lifestyle. I remember many moons ago going on Atkins and getting to 119 lbs. I’m 5.2”. I was 19 at the time, lol. I thought I was so fat back then when in reality I was not at all. When I look at pictures of myself back then I really think I was nuts!The only reason I’ve gained weight is yo-yo dieting. At 67 and recently widowed, I don’t really care about being perfect anymore. I just want to do what’s easiest for me to feel good and have some energy. I’m going to try but I’ve already decided that those 2 or 3 meals I have in a week that are not keto but bring me fellowship are A Okay with me. Thanks for the encouragement. Love you both! ❤Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy 2025!🎉🎊

I just have to say that I love you guys!!! You are such an encouragement to me. I too lost a lot of weight (65 lbs) back in 2017 and but a majority of it back on because of my "all or nothing" mentality. Through prayer and a determination to be healthy again, I've finally started back. Your videos and recipes are helping so much as well as all the products focused on the keto diet. I started keto January 1st 2024. I decided I had to make some changes. I, like many people have been on every diet out there. I’ll be 64 in a couple of weeks. I don’t count anything either. Counting feels too much like a diet. So I try to make good choices. We all know what we need to do. But doing it is another thing. So we have to do what we can stick to. I only lost 25 lbs in a year but that is better than eating everything mindlessly and gaining 25 or more. Do it for better health. You will not regret it. ❤

@anoldladi3 күн бұрын
2nd comment, feeding the YT algorithm. My relatives make no concession at all to my keto/low carb eating at their holiday parties. It's pasta, rolls, candied ham, pies -- and all the rest. So I just build those few meals into the plan, and try not to overload my plate.

That said, we are in need of our annual ‘reset’ which is very much like your plan! I ask my husband every year “just give me 2 weeks of strict keto…and then I’ll add in more interesting options”. Sounds like what I did. I was on high fat high calorie low carb for years. After Thanksgiving I needed to lose weight. I went to 1970's Weight Watchers diet. (Did this in 70's). Surprisingly it was easy for me compared to how I struggled with it before. I've lost 8 lbs and feel great (84 y/o). Did my body like this diet now because I flipped eating habits? Don't know. Working for me. I eat very little compared to what I ate before and more balanced.

All good info! I would add that for me the food has to taste really good and has to not take too long to prepare. A big problem with a keto diet is how long it takes to prepare everything which can get monotonous rather quickly, especially if you try to make everything like low carb condiments. Some go to is fried cabbage with sausage, bacon wrapped shrimp sewers brushed with sugar free bbq, and your mushroom hemp heart pilaf.

I also prescribe to the idea not to eat when you aren’t hungry, and I don’t eat anything until at least 1pm, or later. Today I had a salad with shrimp & avocado at 2:30pm, and then I have a smaller dinner at around 6:30pm. In the late morning I will usually have a large iced coffee from Panera Bread. Not eating in the morning is usually frowned upon, because it doesn’t get the metabolism working, but it works for me, as the hardest time for me is in the late evening not in the morning!
