I would not like to tell an Anorexic (Anorexia Nervosa and/or Bulimia) or Diabetic Patient (Diabetes Mellitus I and II) I know they have been fasting or not taking their medications (Medication non-compliance is usually the aetiology of Metabolic Acidosis/Ketoacidosis). The Alcoholic is just plain easy to diagnose and treat. However, asking the alcoholic to stop alcohol use altogether is just unrealistic, even if the doctor admonishes with possible fatal complications: Shock and/Death because of Multiple Organ Failure (MODS) and Generalized Hypoperfusion due to impoverish muscle tone (Heart, Vessels and Skeletal).
