Steve, can we have some follow along workouts? Thanks for the fantastic education you’re giving away with your videos
@IKFFChannel4 жыл бұрын
I don’t plan to make follow-along for youtube. I prefer to educate so folks can learn how to create their own workouts from the foundation of mastering the basics. However I do offer classes and training via zoom live and you can email if you want learn about those: stevecotter@ikff.net

Great explanation of the difference. Has your technique changed since you created your encyclopedia?
@IKFFChannel4 жыл бұрын
Yes, my technique has refined. The Encyclopedia DVDs 1&2 were created in 2005 & 2006, respectively. Practice is an ever-evolving process

Would all of these presses be programmed into a single work out or used on different days?
@IKFFChannel4 жыл бұрын
There is no one way; lots of ways you can combine, or train separately. I typically train one or just a few techniques in any one session. There is no perfect way, just practice and develop the skills over time

Steve I would love to see you do barbell cleans or snatches?
@IKFFChannel4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, however I don’t train with a barbell nor have regular access to one. Kettlebells fit my lifestyle more effectively

Hi Steve, very thanks for this tutorial. Now with your clarification I've found that for me is far more easy to do a bent press with a slight squat to find my extension before lock out (I thought I was doing it wrong but now I see is a correct alternative). My question is if I've stay adding more load in this manner (dropping the hips) or should I still try to body lean even is more difficult for me? thanks José
@IKFFChannel4 жыл бұрын
José, for heavy load, get under it in the way that fits your body best. From a movement education point of view, it is good to practice the more Difficult variation. The more you can build your “weak” ranges, the better overall movement quality you will develop

Out of all these exercises, which one is best for working the shoulders?
@IKFFChannel2 жыл бұрын
Probably side press although intimately, the variation that allow you to support the heavier load. Windmill is not a press so that one would not be first choice for shoulder strengthening, but may be best choice for shoulder mobility. A single arm Press or Push Press will directly work shoulders more than these variations

How do you keep such good quality in all your videos ? Do you make them all yourself or do you have a cameraman?

Hardly, haha. No camera person, I film these with my iPhone :-)

@@IKFFChannel wow that Is amazing . I'm trying to make some instructional videos for my clients that have trouble remembering my Exercises I taught them with specific progressions they need .either it's just my feet , half body or blurry .What is your secret to get such good video ?
@IKFFChannel4 жыл бұрын
I am definitely not the person to ask about video quality or any electronic tech questions. You will get more info from a google search. I simple put the phone vertical and make sure I am in frame then press record :)

Why would you use one over the other? It would seem that the bent press has no real value.
@IKFFChannel3 жыл бұрын
Value as an individual determinant. We all can value different things. So value is not the word. As far as why you would use one over the other that’s gonna be a matter of preference and the preference is normally going to relate to your body mechanics, Limb levers, strengths and weaknesses. There was a time when the bent press was more commonly practiced, and in fact to this day the record for the most weight lifted and stabilized overhead with one hand was performed with a bent press. So it certainly has value it’s just a question of if it has value to you enough for you to really practice it and get really good at it. I don’t think it’s necessary to learn but whatever lift you’re going to do it’s good to have a good idea about the mechanical similarities and differences. Choose the one that you like and that can get the job done
