I use clubbells, kettlebells, and barbell weights. For me they complement each other and add variety to my training. If I was forced to just pick one - I would say that the kettlbell is the most versatile weightlifting tool in existence.

Very informative John thank you for your time. I been training in kettlebells for several years mostly Hard Style and just started training with Clubbells. I am hoping that the circular training you get with Clubbells will loosen my shoulders up more and further strengthen my recovered right torn rotator cuff that is at best 90 percent on a good day that I injured from heavy weight training over ten years ago. I really appreciate your thorough teaching style and I look forward to more of your videos. Much respect, Lee

That's great video! Thanks a lot! Really professional, useful, deep and practical analysis of these two great tools. As you mentioned clubbels are still niche equipment and finding reliable information resources is pain in the ass.

One thing, my pushups are really bad (and I think the limiting factor is my abs strength, not chest or arms muscles). I've been doing Kettlebell exercises (with a 30lb kettlebell) and 360s (with a 15lb macebell) and decided to try push ups again and I think I felt a nice improvement. Is this all in my head or do these things improve the ability to do pushups?
@bobdole72923 жыл бұрын
Getting really strong with a kettlebell in various movements is probably going to enhance and aid most performance metrics. If your abs are weak try 1 side kettlebell lifts like 1 arms swings, cleans, snatches, and front squats with a kettlebell on 1 side or the other

@TangomanX2008 Hollow hold and hollow rock gymnastic exercises teach you the right way to hold the body during pushups. As an old guy, I don't even have to think about it nowadays. But I see a lot of sloppy techniques in the gym. That makes me cringe, because it must hurt their back. Heavy clubs train the same muscles. But you must also learn how to do it in a plank position, like in a pushup.

I've recently started getting into kettlebells, love them but always wanted to try the clubs too

After careful consideration, i've decided to use both. Now i need to get the best high-quality kettlebells [comp style] as well as clubbells. Any suggestions / recommendations?

Get adjustables if space and money are any issue. You'll never outgrow them. Bells of steel or titan for adjustable kettles Adex or CK maceworks or diy for adjustable clubs This assumes you USA. If you're European there are other brands. This is the way if you stick with it. Maybe start with a cheap fixed 16kg kettlebell and a 15lb club to test the waters if you're average man

Personally I prefer clubbells. I find that they're more portable. I think there's more variety as well. More importantly, they just seem to suit me and my biomechanics. Kettlebells are great though. It's hard to beat the feel of high rep snatches

Thank you for making this video! You answered all of my questions regarding how these tools compare to each other. Question: I have a pair of 1 pound indian clubs and love them. They have helped my shoulders a great deal. Could a 15 pound indian club compare to a 15 pound clubbell for strength training?

I hate to jump on a bandwagon of a the new trend of clubs and maces! But these tools gives me the rotationan and side loading of the body I've been missing. Kettlebells never were my thing! Otherwise, my favorite tools are gymnastic rings. In my opinion much superior to weights, if you know how to use them.

You are wrong. What you fail to understand is that Kettlebells and dumbbells have opposite targets and opposite function.

I WISH I'd NEVER used clubbells. My ex and I used clubbells years ago. We were VERY concerned about form and yet we both ended up with SI Joint injuries (that's a forever injury). The lever length is so long and they are far more dangerous/ ez to get injured with...especially your back, which is what happened to us. btw- we videoed, and got all sorts of Sonnon tutorials,...and still!!! Stick with kettle bells!

The were the ones that Scott Sonnon was pushing really hard through built by torque Athletic at the time. Not to long ago, I looked on their site and I believe they terminated their relationship with Sonnon.

Here is an excerpt from my review of the clubbell: physicalliving.com/clubbell-review/ Use the following guidelines to choose the most appropriate starting weight. Poor Fitness Level - No training experience, recent rehabilitation from injuries, small build Men - Pair of 10 lb clubbells, and/or a single 20 lb clubbell Women - Pair of 5 lb clubbells, and/or a single 15 lb clubbell Average Fitness Level - Some training experience, healthy, moderate build Men - Pair of 15 lb clubbells, and/or a single 25 or 35 lb clubbell Women - Pair of 10 lb clubbells, and/or a single 20 or 25 lb clubbell Excellent Fitness Level - High training experience, healthy, large build, athletic background Men - Pair of 20 or 25 lb clubbells, and/or a single 35 or 45 lb clubbell Women - Pair of 15 lb clubbells, and/or a single 25 or 35 lb clubbell Note: Most men start with a pair of 15’s and women start with a pair of 10’s. These are clubbell weights that most trainees will not outgrow - even after years of use. If you’re still undecided, then choosing the lower weight is usually the best option.
