I appreciate the comparisons! I've been using the procaster for 6+ months and here are some things I like about it: 1.) You don't get ANY plosives if you are more than a few inches away and at an angle, 2.) the longer shape means you don't get that boom arm in your face, 3.) speaking up against a metal grill is nicer than against foam (and no pet hairs or lint), 4.) and in case of home invasion it can be used as a heavy weapon (thing is built solid!).

Great comparison! I have both of these microphones and have similar observations. The Procaster is a really great microphone and is no worse than the Shure microphone that is twice as expensive...

Newbies should use the Rode Procaster over the SM7b, because the 7b requires EQ. The only problem with the Procaster is the mount. If Rode created a better mount (like Lauten's LS208 mount), the Procaster might be the industry standard.

Amazing detailed review as always. Still waiting for the battle between Shure SM58 and SM7B / SM58 and MV7 I want a real answer for this question: Does the SM7B and the MV7 deserve paying more or the SM58 is enough (not talking about looks of course, I mean just in sound quality for a podcast) and if u can do a battle between AT2040 and Shure SM58 (they have almost the same price) I would be thankful ❤

I'm a little ignorant on this topic. As a vocal coach and hopefully as a future content creator I'd like to upgrade from my Samsom Q8, and this Rode Procaster is interesting to me because of its noise cancelling, as my workspace is not treated acoustically and my background tends to be noisy. Would you recommend the Rode Procaster for singing too? If not, should I definitely go for the SM7b or is there a better choice or good alternative? Thanks in advance.

IMO, a Procaster sounds better for singing than the SM7B.

Thank you so much for this video! Would you say that you'd use the same settings used on the (GoXLR & Rode PodMic Setup video) for the Procaster connected to a GoXLR? Many thanks in advance!

Sry for being a bit off-topic but when you use rca-1/4trs adapter cable, what dB has the output?, is it still -10? (dj controller)
@kettnercreative7 ай бұрын
Yes, if you use the RCA output, you still have -10dB. The cable doesn't give/reduce power.

ok so I wanna get a shure sm7b but I also wouldnt mind getting the shure sm7db would you say it is worth that extra dollar for it or should I just get a preamp like a cloud lifter, dynamite, or fethead?
@rickonmic7 ай бұрын
Get the separate preamp. More flexible. You can use it with other mics.
@kettnercreative7 ай бұрын
The SM7dB is too little, too late. The internal preamp isn’t that good, and all of the next gen interfaces/mixers have enough gain to power the SM7B without a cloudlifter/fethead. Also, if you have a cloudlifter, you can use it on any mic you wish, it’s far more modular.

@@kettnercreative Thank you for the input and I am looking at getting the Focus scarlet solo 4th gen or Logitech wave audio interface
@rickonmic7 ай бұрын
@@kettnercreative consider the Motu M2.

You mean Elgato instead of Logitech, right? The Elgative Wave XLR has 75 db of gain. 60 is enough for the SM7B. So no need for an additional preamp.
