Keurig Coffee Maker No Power Fixed for FREE

My Keurig K920 Coffee Maker Hot Brewer would not power on. Checked power cord with a multimeter and determined there was an internal component issue and it was an easy fix, for free.

Great video. I was reluctant to do this. But figured what the hell. Took my time disengaging the shell, finally got it all off. I could see the thermal coupler when setting the Keurig on it's side (with the cup tray facing left), usimg a flashlight and a paper clip, I found the small reset hole and VOILA! Carefully put it all together. I am now enjoying a hot cup of coffee as my reward! Thank you!

Saved me buying a new one, found a separate video of someone taking the covers off, folks there no secret, you will break the cover. This is the alternative to going out and buying a new one. Be happy

Now for the REAL question. Why didn't the genius engineers at Keurig place the thermal cut off switch so it could be reset with a pointed tool through a small chassis hole, so it doesn't require disassembly to reset???

Mine just went into descale mode - I did just what the directions say - let it go to add water. Well it didn’t just over heated and I imagine kicked the thermo-coupler. I’ll wait to see if it resets if not I guess I have to take it apart. It’s been a great machine replaced my older one at the beginning of the year.

Cannot believe it was this easy. Getting the cover off was the hardest part. Didn’t have to remove any internal parts to reach the switch with a modified paper clip.

I don't even have this coffee maker but another one by another make that doesn't power on and happened to come across your video. Really great video. Going to find my multimeter and do that test you did at the start of the video and see what happens and then open up and see if there is a thermocouple in there!

Holy shit !! This was exactly what was wrong with my deluxe..... Small pop on that center actuator thingy and it reset. The problem was do not hit start if you don't have the water container correctly in place

I successfully reset the switch on my new machine per this video and it briefly power up but quickly shut down again. Guess there’s something else defective causing this to reoccur and the reason Ebay has tons of listing for this model selling for parts.

Thanks for the tip but after resetting, my machine won’t even stay on long enough to finish set up and Wi-Fi connection. Think it’s ‘toast’. At least Keurig stepped up and sent a replacement.

Restored power to the machine, then tried to brew a cup, no water came out but smoke and smell from the electronics burning up did. Disappointed in Keurig quality. Good video if it works for you.

I replaced it with a Uxcell KSD301 Thermostat 145°C/293°F 10A N.C Adjust Snap Disc Temperature Switch. This type of thermostat will reset after it cools down, although I have never had it pop since i installed it. Removing the front panel right below the cup makes access easier.

I bought the Fielect KDS301 Thermostat 160°C/320°F but they will automatically reset when cooled down so I did not use them. Probably not a good idea anyway since the original has to be reset manually. This might prevent a fire. I have not found the exact replacement with a manual reset, but I think I found the reason it does trip. I have a new video about that. Thanks for the comments.

This may sound like a silly question but since you are tech savvy I'm sure you would know. I just purchased a K Elite and I need a good power extension cord or power strip because the cord is unfortunately too short for my set up. I probably need about a 2.5 or 3ft extension. Would you have any recommendations?

Do not use a regular extension cord. Get a good grade power strip that has a overload auto trip on it. Leave the switch on the power strip in the "on" position all the time. Only use it for your coffee maker and nothing else. You should be good to go.

Sometimes extension cords and power strips are necessary. Look for one rated for at least 15 amps and as short in length as possible and the ones with flat plugs are not bulky like the traditional plugs. Thanks for the comments!

Did all that successfully, yet the thermostat didn't "pop" when I inserted a pin. Can I simply bypass that sensor or must I replace it?

If it does not reset it needs to be replaced. This is something that should never be bypassed.

The thermal breaker can be electrically bypassed and it will allow the brewer to operate. However, bypassing the thermal breaker would enable the risk of a fire in the event of a malfunction that causes the brewer to overheat, so such an action is not recommended.

you can't actually hear it "pop"/ Before placing it all together, set it upright, put the water carafe on it (with water in it of course) and test it. Plug it in and turn it on, If you have power on light it is working,

@@CarveTools no biggie, how about mine pulled the no power crap after I descaled it I ran it dry and the thermostat shut off so then I took the screws out and pried it back far enough to get to the thermostat and how about I was Jones in for a cuppa coffee and that’s why I was pissed despite all my rage the machine is still in one piece and I haven’t had to buy a new one

Just did mine it's the newest one 3 months old they are almost impossible not to break I pull n pulled all snaps n screws were out you will break some plastic by the cord it's gonna happen finally I pryed the side open enough to use a wire and Long needles nose plyers with a wire bent 90 degrees and it reset n work.these are made not to be taken apart they don't repair them they replace them only.i was in descale mode and it over heated and the thermostat tripped lost all power to it I hate this mode .I'll calling tomorrow to give me a new one off the ser no.

I live by myself so my Keurig doesn't even get a lot of use. Keurig sent me a replacement coffee maker about 2 or 3 months ago for my k26 model that quit working after it was about a year old, and already the new one quit again and won't power, pure chinese garbage...if youre lucky! Never buy keurig! Im back to boiling water in the microwave 😭
