I spent on year living in Glasgow (studied at Strathclyde). I can say the second best thing about being able to perfectly understand the Scottish accent for me so far has been being able to follow Kevin Bridge's comedy 😂😂😂😂

Its pretty different in pronunciation and even some of the pronouns are different. I speak Spanish but Castillian can be a bit hard to understand sometimes.

I grew up in New Mexico, so my ''Spanish'' is limited to comidas y cuss words, and I have ''grocery store Russian'' at my command as well. it's good to be multi-lingual. I still struggle with English, Emurikan and Island, my native tongue is Blithering Gibberish.

Late here, but... Scottish in the US: I have been told "your English is very good" many times. 😁 Once, I said I feel like I speak 3 languages: American, Scots, & English. Intern said, "When did you learn English?" I grew up in Glasgow but my accent is nowhere near as strong as Kevin's from moving around a lot... when I go home, people ask me where I'm from too (in the specific, I can't guess your postcode kind of way).

He's right about crumbling when they bring the menu. I'm one of those unfortunates who ordered criadillas after asking the waiter, in English, what they were. He made little cupping movements and said, anxiously, what sounded like "iggs". Ladies and gentlemen, it was not eggs that the butcher had cut off that bull, though I didn't find that out until I had chewed my way with difficulty through one and a half.
