I'm not sure if I am sold on these movies. There are plenty of negative audience and critics feedbacks. Four movies sound like a stretch, too. But I love me some Kevin, especially, his earlier works and Yellowstone. But his performance in JFK is still his best.

Was able to see Horizon in the theater and it was good. Pacing was off in a few places and it's hard to tell how the story will work out with only seeing the first part. I hope he is able to complete the full Horizon saga. Looking forward to Deadpool & Wolverine

Quiet Place just felt like more or less the same thing as the others. This franchise needs to innovate or something because if you've seen 1 of them you've kinda seen them all. A bunch of fetch quests going from 1 area to the other, someone steps on a bottle, queue chase scene where people die and then rinse and repeat. Same thing happened in the first 2 and this is the weakest of the 3. 2/5 stars imo. Thanks for the pod!

I loved Costner's comment about being the only ordinary person in a Superhero movie when doing Man of Steel. Reminded me of high school drama class when I was in a production of South Pacific and ended up playing the only major character (Captain Brackett) who didn't sing in a musical. And yes, I'm a good singer, that wasn't it.

HORIZON is an amazing film, and I can't wait to see the next installment. We are all a little too used to binge-watching an epic series like GOT or DEADWOOD, or even the flawed Hatfields and McCoys, so we all want to get to the end of this ASAP, but that isn't the nature of big screen movies. Folks who stay home will miss out on the incredible feeling of being in these locations and feeling the weather changes, smelling the smoke and food and grimy humanity struggling to survive. Costner gives us all of this with an enseble of talented actors who inhabit their roles-- and he said he shot this in less than 55 days? His commitment to his script, and pre-planned shooting schedule, betrays his greatest success-- a real VISION driving his work. You brought up DANCES WITH WOLVES and OPEN RANGE in your review, and I see HORIZON as a melding of these two-- the lyrical beauty of the sweeping epic, with the harsh reality of holding onto whatever you can, no matter how much brutality it takes. Thanks for the interview with this extraordinary filmmaker!

Not a strictly like for like comparison I admit, but I'm a bit baffled by people bringing up the "Part 1" in the title as a detriment. Simply because we recently just had Dune Part 1 and 2 and it didn't noticeably hurt either of those films. Maybe that's what they were thinking here - using Dune as a model. Even when Hamilton brings up the Horizon ending feeling like someone literally cutting the film mid scene - which is a legit criticism - it just made me recall the same experience I had at the end of Dune Part 1. That wasn't even an ending - it felt like ellipses at the end of a scene.
