Also very disrespectful to the cast who did an incredible job in the episode who have worked along side Kevin for the last 7 years. You guys are WAYYY too emotional about this. First of all, there’s no guarantee his character is actually killed off. It could be a staged death where it appears to the public that he’s dead so the land/finances go over to his kids, especially Jamie, who is an attorney and can better fend off takeover attempts. You see how they didn’t actually show John Dutton dead, they showed like an arm of a person. So they’re leading you to think he’s dead. Idk, I have a very hard time believing that if they truly wanted to kill off John Dutton’s character, that they would’ve flown in Kevin Costner and filmed some short scene one day. The show just killing Costner’s character without his knowledge or inclusion in the scene just doesn’t sound right. Costner even said “maybe it’s a red herring.” Which I believe it is. They just had to give an explanation why Kevin Costner wouldn’t be on the show for this particular season because he’s filming Horizon. I believe totally they’ll have him back.

Costner appears to be of the opinion he gave Yellowstone more than he planned to by doing five seasons. However, he took the lead role and would have been well aware of the success of the show and his importance to the story. It seems selfish that he just dumped the show instead of trying to figure out a way to accommodate both Horizon(s) and Yellowstone, which afterall, was paying him stupid money so it was not as if he was suffering. Obviously we do not have all the details but it seems like Kevin Costner pulled out without much of a thought for his fellow cast members or the show makers. I would have hoped for more 'how can we make this work? what do you need from me?" Instead of "I am done, live with it".

I mean, anyone who watches the show, and watched the first half of season 5 knows immediately that it was Jamie. Beth knew it immediately, so did I. and halfway through the episode it was confirmed. I was excited for the series final season, I liked part 1. and didin't realize what was going on with Kevin for part 2. So I was disappointed with the premiere of part 2. But I understand why they did it. It was out of the writers hands. Kevins gone, what are they gonna do? Pull a Deadwood and walk away only to do a movie ten years later? I've lost interest after that part 2 premiere but I completely understand why they did what they did. It makes sense to me. I'll probably watch the rest when its ends, but I'm not interested in waiting every week like I was before.

What happened from the ending of last season where Costner was shot along the road and Beth and Casey were supposedly blown up? The new season starts as though that never happened.And when did Hohn become governor? It’s all very confusing as a loyal Yellowstone watcher.

You’re obviously missing a streaming season. Thus show goes from paramount + to now prime video then to philo soon. You’ve missed something somewhere. Keep searching your steaming options

Not the first time Costner character was eliminated from a show via suicide. The Bill Chill, he’s the dead guy that committed suicide. I know, he didn’t commit suicide in Yellowstone but it’s funny that the cover story is a suicide.

Costner really didn't give them a choice, did he? I mean, he quit the show that made him a household name again. It was the most popular show on TV and he quit mid-season on a cliffhanger. The reason he quit doesn't matter. Horizon was not a movie that could not have been put off for a year. He could have had his Dutton character killed off heroically and honorably, taken his huge paycheck, rode away with his reputation intact and Horizon might have had a chance at being a hit. Now Horizon is a dud, he'll never get to make all 3 or 4 that he wanted, and his legacy in Yellowstone is wiped away. I'm a huge Costner fan, but this this was just horribly played.

Actually, Costner offered to shoot Part 2 on the 2nd half of 2022 till 2023, but Sheridan was busy filming 1883 & after that 1923. Paramount prioritized those spin-offs & new shows like Lioness over Yellowstone. They made the circumstances impossible for Costner to return.

It’s a shame he couldn’t bring himself to do this role.

Such a great show because all the parts worked . I feel it's going to go the way of "walking dead" and die slowly.

He actually only committed to 1 originally @davidmarinace5843 but I'm with you, he did what he could while life was also going on. If ppl actually looked up what happened, they would be disappointed with paramount.

They should have just used Kurt Russell the whole time. Then this wouldn’t have hurt so bad. (Wyatt Earp / Tombstone) reference.

I’ll give you that better choice of actor for the role
@micheleyoungblood3 күн бұрын
@@WillowsandCainPoles just replace Costner with a Russel or someone else and move forward. I wasn't attached to Costner. Shows have had to recast leads/characters and they move on just fine. Bewitched - Darrin comes to my mind but many others. He was good but I could easily see others in the part. It wasn't Costner for me watching Yellowstone, it was the writing and I believe another actor could easily take over the part. I think because he was executive producer he wouldn't let them replace him but he wouldn't come back so they were stuck. I blame Costner for them not releasing the show to move forward using another actor.

@ I would offered him less also since he was more focused on Horizon than anything else and we saw how that movie went. Listen, no information is true about this show even if it’s coming from the casts mouths.

Kevin does not look that good now. His hair is thinner. Not wearing his Toupee. His Beard is Grey. His face is blotchy. But, he had a Bad Yr. Got Divorced. New Movie Not Good. He put $38 million of his own $$ for the Movie. And he lost going back to Y'stone. Poor Guy!😢
