Great movie. I loved that they purposely downplayed and undershot Bonnie & Clyde - it built the suspense and mystery from Hamer & Gault's perspective and put the light on them. Great storytelling decision, and so well done.

Yes, for me it seemed like the viewer was getting the perspective that the American public must have gotten back then. Hardly anyone met or even saw Bonnie and Clyde in real life, so all they had to go on were reports and a newspaper and some on radio. So of course all of the mythology gets built on from that.

This was a fun film to work on. I was one of the special effects guys who worked on this movie. And I can tell you as a fan of both Kevin and Woody, whom I haven’t worked with either of them before this show, it was a great honor and pleasure. I am a Louisiana local born and raised, and this was a really interesting project to work on giving the history and location so close to home. I’d say the coolest part of this job was working on the cars, the ambush car in particular. And we did our best to recreate the car as it was in real life and this was the first show based on truth I’ve worked on, so just looking at historical photos and reading information trying to get the details on things such as where the bullet holes go, the distance of travel and all that was just so cool.. Lots of great people to work with on this show and again Woody and Kevin were great to work with, super nice, friendly and respectable. Its was a pleasure and the film came out great, I really enjoyed watching it.

I loved this version. I like that the focus on the Texas Rangers showed the animalistic perspective of the criminals and didn't glorify them. I also like that it highlights that women did have strengths in history, which contrasts the narrative we are told today. Well done for making this film.
@onlytymewilltell2 жыл бұрын
I guess based on whatever your perspective is you might see them as 'animalistic' but I wouldn't characterize Bonnie and Clyde that way. I damn sure don't agree with killing anyone BUT given everything that happened to clyde up to that point I can see why he felt it was his ONLY option. So if the roles were reversed and you found yourself in his shoes you can say you would give up and go back peacefully to Eastham prison??? You can't back someone into a corner and not except them to furiously fight back. So the way I see it is desperate times called for desperate measures! END OF!!

I glad to see a film that highlights and showcases the law enforcement that hunted them down but do film that showcases Bonnie and Clyde’s perspective really qualify as glorifying though? Or any movie that simply has the criminals as the main characters ? I don’t see how you can really glorify mobsters and gangsters when you the viewers are shown the criminal immoral acts they do.
@kbanghart5 жыл бұрын
I disagree, I mean yes I loved it, but I didn't necessarily need to see the cops more glamorized than the criminals, if that makes sense. In other words, for me it didn't glamorize either side, it just showed it as a job that had to be done.

BONNIE and Clyde with Warren Beaty and Faye Dunaway. That ending was the best. I couldn't get the ending out of my head for awhile.
@TralfazConstruction5 жыл бұрын
The cinematic ending of the 1967 film was widely discussed in its day for the very graphic nature of it. Yet, the following spring, after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, the Oscars were delayed two days. Bob Hope joked during the show's opening that Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty had a "getaway truck" parked outside for the haul of Oscars the film would presumably win. The movie begat its own cult following and subsequent re-releases. I saw it in the spring of 1968 with my parents; they had given me a talk as to some aspects of the film's violence and other themes. Later that year, around November, Bonnie & Clyde was paired with Steve McQueen's Bullitt in a double-feature. I was twelve years old that spring of 1968 and remember a lot about how the film impacted the culture.

Texas Chainsaw Jesus -- I haven't seen the film yet but I am sure it is far from what really happened - for example Bonnie Parkers legs was burnt so bad previously that she could barely walk- Clyde most often carried her short distances in the end - the lady whom came to retrieve her shot up car was told she had to pay 15K for it - after a court battle she took it back to Kansas - Hamer was a true badass in his day and he wound up with some of the guns after being cheated out of reward money - who could blame him. Bonnie Parker never drove a car and never fired a pistol according to WD Jones who travel with them a year and 1/2 and partook in 5 major gun battles out of Clydes 21.

I don't know what you've been reading, but I've read every book ever written on them. B&C never sugar coated anything to their family. Their family knew what they were and what would happen to them. And so we set the record straight, Bonnie Parker never killed anyone. And, when Clyde killed, it was never cold blooded ... it was fear based. You have the Eastham Prison System to thank for that.

Costner and Allen.... what an incredible duo! If you liked the original Bonnie & Clyde with Beatty and Dunaway you're going to love this one.

Fine film. This is one of the few movies that I can see over and over again and never get tired.

The first time you stand where Bonnie and Clyde died and the first time you see their car, that's riddled with bullet holes, it feels more like a memorial. You get the same feeling standing in a cemetery. It is surreal.

Bates played a fantastic part as Gertrude Stein in Midnight in Paris. My favorite movie. One of my favorite actresses. Best actors to play these parts. It doesn't get any better than Kevin and Woody. Please give us more of our great actors and actresses.
