Kevin Durant can NEVER be in the GOAT debate

Kevin Durant has asked the question of why shouldn't he be in the GOAT debate. In his own words, he says..
“Because I went to the Warriors,” Durant said in an exclusive interview with The Republic. “Why shouldn’t I be in that? That’s the question you should ask. Why not? What haven’t I done?” It's not what you haven't done, Kevin Durant it's what you did. Joining the Warriors destroyed a lot of the stock people had in him as a superstar and until he wins on his own he isn't dodging the allegations.

“What haven’t I done?” - Be the clear #1 option on a championship team - Average more than 8.3 rebounds despite being 6’10+ with a 7’6 wingspan - Make an all defensive team - Take accountability for his playoff failures

There's a hard truth about GOAT debates that no one debating it wants to admit. GOATs don't get to choose themselves, they're not chosen by other athletes or even the fans. The GOAT is chosen by casuals and people that don't even watch the sport in question. When you walk up to grandma and ask "Who is the greatest Basketball player of all time?" and she answers "You got that $20 you owe me? No? Then don't be asking me dumb questions boy... and it's Michael Jordan." This is what makes the GOAT, when these people know their names and know they're the best, that's when they've become the GOAT. This ain't KD.

Robinson, Durant, Thomas, M. Malone, and Dr J. I think youcould make the argument for him being top 15, but I also think you could put him even lower with guys like The Admiral, Barkley, K Malone, West, Garnet, Baylor and Dirk. @t-god2439 Kareem has better longevity compared to Magic while having a similar peak. He has a better resume compared to Magic in my opinion. He was the all-time leading scorer for nearly 40 years until LeBron broke the record. I know most people don't consider high school and college, but Kareem is probably the GOAT of both high school and college. Kareem also won without Magic in 1971, although he did have Oscar Robertson on his team as a distant 2nd option. Also, in 1980, Kareem should have won Finals MVP over Magic despite Magic's brilliant Game 6 performance. But if you want to have Magic in the GOAT Debate over Kareem, that's fine. You can also include Duncan, if you want. I would find it hard to include Kobe in that debate, as Kobe, in my opinion, is a slightly worse version of MJ, so at best, he's 1B to MJ's 1A. But that's just my 2 cents.

"hes grown even more insecure in the years following" "people with burner accounts are insecue, as well as athletes who argue with youtubers" THANK YOU. finally someone said it. for me, his rock bottom was when he decided he needed to hop on random nobody's discord call for their podcast just to defend himself against the criticism of the week. people were praising this move, saying "isnt it so cool how far technology has come that someone like kevin durant can get on a discord call to be interviewed by a youtuber?" and i thought i was the only one who thought this was painfully uncool. kevin durant is supposed to be a larger than life superstar, a celebrity beyond basketball. what is he doing coming down to our level? why is he so worried about what the common person is saying about him? rather than look at the big picture, random people claimed it made him more relatable. did it though? cause all i see is someone who makes millions of dollars to play basketball unable to take the media spotlight that comes with said career needing to defend himself from some mean words on twitter. for the youtuber, yeah that was probably great to have kevin durant on his podcast. but for durant, the superstardom is shattered. for that alone, why would anyone classify him as a goat?

IMO, there's only 8 players that have a legitimate argument for being the greatest: MJ, Magic, Kareem, Wilt, Russell, Duncan, Lebron, Bird. Shaq, Robertson, Kobe and Olajuwan would be on the tier below. Maybe Curry in that tier also. KD? Nope. Look, I suck at basketball. Knees hurt, average handles, crappy jump shot. But I know enough to critique what I see on the court. Nothing against what KD accomplished, but he's a bus rider, not a driver. KD wouldn't even crack my top 25. Giannis' sole championship is more valuable than KD's two.

4:18 By the way, once upon a time the Cleveland Cavaliers fans burned many replicas of both LeBron James #23 Cavaliers jersey and LeBron James #6 Heat jersey, in the streets and on camera. And once upon a time the Los Angeles Lakers fans routinely defaced LeBron James public murals on multiple occasions. Yet there are Kobe Bryant paintings and murals of both Kobe alone and of Kobe with his late daughter, all over Los Angeles from the urban areas to the suburbs, and Kobe’s public artworks look to be in perfect mint condition to this very day. 🤷‍♂️

KD's issue is that he's a pure basketball player through and through. He loves the game of basketball and only the game of basketball. He's never cared about being a leader, he's never cared about even being the best. He's relying on his natural otherworldly skills and never really did more than that. You can't be that way and expect to be in a goat convo for anything.
