Kevin Durant is not a fan of his latest NBA 2k23 rating of a 96 overall. He responded to a tweet saying quote, “I’m gonna need an explanation on why I’m not a 99? This has become laughable.” Durant’s 96 is tied with LeBron James and Stephen Curry and is one back of Giannis Antetokounmpo at 97. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe react to KD’s comment.

I think ego is only part of the issue. A lot of kids who are new to the NBA look at these games and decide on their favorite players since they play with them on 2K. That is a considerable financial incentive for players since these kids end up buying their shoes, merchandise etc. down the road. I still remember how crazy good Baron Davis was in 2K8 or something and that really helped shape my opinion of him even though I was a grown up playing the game.
