Born in Germany and named Germain, awesome symmetry. i'm actually curious if you have read anything Thomas Sowell has written about black children of American servicemen born and raised in Germany? It may be of some interest to you and your fortunate break to be raised in Germany. I found it incredibly interesting and I'm a white prairie boy from Western Canada who didn't meet a black person until 4th grade . Didn't really meet anyone who wasn't white until then either but absolutely loved the comedies of the 70s when possibly the best " black " comedies ,for lack of a better word , were on TV and loved em all. And until George Floyd happened even though I knew the numbers I didn't ever focus on it but since George Floyd my opinion of American born blacks has taken a huge hit. I know black people from around the planet who immigrated to Canada except blacks born in America and it is painful to see the difference between blacks born and raised in America and every other race from anywhere and blacks not born in America . I don't know how anyone thinks melanin possesses physical qualities that make them superior to white people or how Jesus was black, Cleopatra was black, etc.... But to come to the realization that blacks born in America may be the most violent group on the planet while also being somehow less educated than almost any African or Caribbean born black I've ever met. Until Sowell provided some answers I honestly thought something was being hidden from me but unfortunately the numbers were correct and a large portion of black Americans really have a problem and it's them and it isn't getting better. It is disheartening to see millions of people who don't get it even though they see it everyday but refuse to Acknowledge the problem. Thomas Sowell has been a revelation even though I have read his columns since the late 90s. I can't introduce him to enough people and I'm shocked that he isn't known to everyone not just in America but 8n the world. And his observations of German born American blacks is fascinating and the numbers even more so Germain from Germany. Awesome!

I am not a basketball fan and also not American but I am reminded of European football (soccer) about 40 years ago. Until then it was rare (and difficult) to recruit internationally. So the German league was completely dominated by German players, the English league by English (also Irish and Scottish) players etc… Changes in European labour laws allowed clubs to recruit all over the continent and they also recruited from elsewhere - especially from South America. Today, football is incredibly international. The top clubs include players from all over Europe but also from the Americas, Africa and even Asia. Some teams might occasionally not have a single player from the home country playing (Arsenal under Wenger). This didn’t happen without a certain amount of pushback. I remember retired players criticizing foreign players (especially from S America and S Europe) for ‘cheating’ and ‘play acting’ etc etc etc

On the other hand regular season MVP people can often add narratives to the award, whether it’s individual stats / team wins / teams overachieving / popularity among fans / defense etc you just pick whichever narrative suits your choice. Fundamentals aren't lost. There's the entire college game that shows you Fundamentals aren't lost. Fundamentals were on full display and takes over the sporting scene during March Madness. NBA's game style, not college game, is losing it's fundamentals. And international ball is based on the more traditional/college game. Not the open 3pt dunk game that's the NBA now.

It's all about race. These guys are mostly from Eastern Europe so they are used to the xenophobia they get from western Europe. Most Americans don't know that many in Western Europe think they are superior to Eastern Europeans. I talk to many Eastern European figure skating fans and you can tell they feel hated by the west. There is a deep insecurity involved here. African American who have had a really tough history the past 400 years have created a safe haven for themselves in music and sports where they have dominated in some areas. Now when a non African American is winning MVP in basketball it has created a uneasy situation where they perhaps feel threatend. Add to that Fury and Usyk as Boxning heavy weight champs and some white guy as dukning champ does not help the situation. Weak people feel threatend. Strong people accept the challenge.
