I can relate SOOOO much to the thinking you're manipulating others but ultimately cheating yourself. Teachers, parents and friends being pleased with you based on something you haven't ACTUALLY done but being satisfied and self congratulating yourself for 'pulling the wool over their eyes' instead of just doing the thing. Not doing the homework but recalling just enough info to convince them otherwise... being late to meeting friends but being satisfied that they waited for you and making them smile/laugh by immediately ingratiating yourself... Long term its horrible you never develop the concept of hard work or the importance of valuing others time. That piece of homework or the punctuality of that catch up by itself wasn't that important but it's the pattern that forms by getting VALUE by NOT actually doing what you were supposed to.

Nothing is done by one individual. Exactly. This is why I've always found issues with terms like "self-made man" or even "self-sufficiency". Work on a farm and you'll see just how reliant you become on neighbours and mentors. Nothing is done in a vacuum where you are all of the necessary components: creator, manufacturer, builder, etc. Great interview; I have a lot of respect for Kevin Hart and his explorative mindset. Obviously nobody is perfect and that's really refreshing to think of too.

The funny thing is that I've been able to use this lesson many times in my life and it's allowed me to do a lot of things that have surprised many on multiple occasions. Determination and persistance are important fondamental building blocks to anyones success. Today I'll add : fore sight and depth of vision to that list as well. So much gold around the 20-24 minute mark. I realized this growing up, my parents and grandparents never really taught us anything and that at first was frustrating. My grandad was a skilled builder for example and refused to teach us. I recently spoke with him because he may go any day now. I said "thank you for your examples of what not to do" I have told my mother this too, their examples of how not to live life, have been incredibly powerful. What is unsaid, and unintentional has been such a north star in my life. Loving this Episode Jay- Kevin is amazing, he has learned a lot of wisdom in the past decade.

If you wanna be successful, you most take responsibility for your emotions, not place the blame on others. In addition to make you feel more guilty about your faults, pointing the finger at others will only serve to increase your sense of personal accountability. There's always a risk in every investment, yet people still invest and succeed. You must look outward if you wanna be successful in life.

The first step to successful investing is figuring out your goals and risk tolerance either on your own or with the help of a financial professional but is very advisable you make use of a professional like I did. I was writing screenplays then, including one which was very important to me, in which there was a character who was very wounded and became psychotic. I can relate a lot to Kevin’s point about our early years & having parents that opens opportunities for you! Really fuelled me to what I have to become this 2023! Keep up the good podcast Jay!

I just finished the audible ! Simply accurate, funny, and straight to the point. Getting introspective with humor is the best! After that I had Rihanna voice singing “I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed Get along with the voices inside of my head “. Anyway, I recommend the audio book !

I’ve never commented on KZbin before but this was very inspirational and I needed to hear these words. Shoutout to both of them and I’m glad I stumbled on to this. Felt like giving up on life so many times. This was 🙏🏾 very eye opening.
