It will NEVER be a currency used by regular people to buy their groceries. Crypto fluctuates way too much to be used as a currency and is backed by nothing. What were to happen if someone figures out the password to your Cryptowallet ? You lose everything, there is no way to get it back. At least if someone robs a bank I know my money is insured and the bank has to pay me back. Another thing people don't talk about is, what about the social cost ? If we transition to a decentralized system, it's ALL public, every embarrassing purchase you make on amazon, every political candidate you donate to. Everybody will know exactly how much income you make and what you spend it on..... and this is what advertising companies love. Let’s say a new interstate was funded by a DAO. And the crypto collected as tolls went back to the DAO. And robotic AI cars are paying a little toll per road use. So roads are all pay as you go. There are multiple groups of people, each with a different goal for cryptocurrency. Capitalists want money and will accept regulation if it means more profit. Libertarians want an economy free of government oversight and want a "free market" even in places where it doesn't belong (Hospitals, Prisons, ect.) Anarchists want no government at all and think crypto could be the solution for a utopian world. (Don't ask me how that would work, IDK). I personally want no crypto at all, it is a threat to Privacy and to Democracy. Crypto fluctuates way too much to be used as a currency and is backed by nothing. What were to happen if someone figures out the password to your Cryptowallet ? You lose everything, there is no way to get it back. At least if someone robs a bank I know my money is insured and the bank has to pay me back. Another thing people don't talk about is, what about the social cost ? If we transition to a decentralized system, it's ALL public, every embarrassing purchase you make on amazon, every political candidate you donate to. Everybody will know exactly how much income you make and what you spend it on..... and this is what advertising companies love. If you think adds are bad now, they would be sooooo much worse with crypto. As for this technology being a threat to Democracy. Do you remember the Cambridge Analytica thing ? In short, the whole point was to gather your data so they could show you propaganda that would influence the way you vote. Imagine there is an election and one of the candidates says they are going to tax the rich, you like this idea so you donate to their campaign. This transaction being publicly available info, catches the attention of the rich oligarchs who don't want to be taxed more. So now they start bombarding your entire internet experience with ads and "news articles" about how taxing the rich would be a bad thing.

could it be that you confused a long term inflation hedge with short term volatility? could it also be that you ignored the numerous boom and bust cycles of crypto along its now 13 year long ascend? you represent the weak hands that get shaken out. same thing 2018, 2015, 2012... Bitcoin is the best inflation hedge of the last decade hands down, despite short term volatility. thats not an opinion thats simple mathematical fact. dont confuse your low tolerance for volatility with any shortcoming of Crypto as a new market.
