When Ne Obliviscaris reached out to me, I considered this a great opportunity to play meaningful and spirited music that blends different atmospheres into great songs and I am honored to be trusted by the band for their upcoming EXUL tours. Learning and rehearsing the songs has already been a huge pleasure and a great challenge. But now I can't wait to experience this music live with them and to use my drumming skills to serve Ne Obliviscaris' beautiful music.

I was so nervous about Dan leaving knowing his insanely massive impact with the band and leaving a huge spot to fill. I knew someone who could do it just as well as him or even better but I could not think of it. Kevin, this was unsuspecting because I always think of you as an insanely fast and well-rounded extreme metal drummer well fit for bands such as benighted or anything inhumanly fast session jobs. I knew you had the chops to pull this off, and you make this seem too easy, haha. Congratulations on the spot, and I am excited to see this played live with you.

I know Dan still wrote this drum part, so it's important to credit him with the creativity involved, but the execution here is flawless. Stepping into his shoes and playing his kind of beats, this perfectly, is jaw-dropping. The double bass run with the feet alternating between the kick drums and the high hats is staggering; that blew me away!

If you've never heard Opeth, you'd probably absolutely love them too! Particularly their albums like Ghost Reveries, Watershed, and Blackwater Park. They were my first love and Ne Obliviscaris have been the first band in a decade I've found who I feel are really in the same league as them 🤘

Man, I can't tell you how much I love this band. When I first heard their music, I was totally stunned by Dan's drum parts and his playing inspired me to work more on dynamics, limb independence and just making the songs more atmospheric. I was nervous when he left the band, because I felt like the crucial part of the band was gone. Kevin, you don't even realize how happy I am right now, knowing that they reached out to you. I've been watching almost all of your videos since you posted the drum cover of "Permitting The Noble Dead To Descend To The Underwold" and I'm more than sure that your playing style and creativity really fits Ne Obliviscaris music. one of the very, very few folks that could take Dan's place and it not be a downgrade. Your creativity in metal drumming is really unrivaled, except by maybe only Dan's, imo, so this is absolutely the best case scenario. i hope this tour is somewhat of a trial-run to see if you fit in the band because I'd love to hear what your original parts sound like on a NeO record!
