Great presentation but you have to be able to do more with the left hand at this level. Chords sound like church but better left hand chord fillers would help. I had to leave gospel alone for awhile because the songs just don't contain alot of left hand movements. I think that's why we all end up doing jazz, our music just doesn't challenge the mind enough. I think what's telling is that it took me a week to learn Jesus Molina's firework but I listened to this one time and already know what he's doing.

A. If you're thinking complexity is what makes music Music.. then you have it all wrong. B. Gospel music in its rawest and most appreciated form isn't about how complex or how full your left hand chords are... It's about the message within the music. C. In music.. a lot of times less is more. D. He's a Gospel musician who incorporates other genres in his music.. he's not trying to be something he's not. E. Look at the head nods to the vibe. Music is about creating a vibe. Jesus Molina's is crazy ridiculous super talented...plays insane stuff but you really can't vibe with a lot of stuff he does. Cory Henry plays ridiculous stuff that i only dream of playing but he also can have you vibing for 20 minutes or more playing the simplest stuff.

And yet hes at the Top of his game. gospel is about full bodied chords. not jazzy dissonant chords.

And just like clockwork here they come, they think they can play because "passa and nem "said so. Has it ever occurred to you that 95% of gospel is played by ear because it's simple. Talk music, preaching chords, shouts, are basic music. Any musician would have know I was talking about voicings and not style. But I should have expected that from a new bread of musicians who disregard Andre Crouch and Richard Smallwood but cling to simple music by Bart Orr.
