@nyny89704 жыл бұрын
That's exactly what a panther is, a black leopard!
@IndomitableT4 жыл бұрын
Ny Ny. Well, no not really. Bear with me, while I try to explain. Most people who call a black leopard a panther usually call a black jaguar also a panther, and they are by all means not the same species, although they are in the same family of carnivorous mammals. Jaguars and leopards do not even share the same continent: the jaguar lives in the Americas, and the leopard in Africa scattered all the way to the Far East of Asia. The exact classification is: Family: Felidae - cats; Subfamily: Pantherinae - big cats; Genus: Panthera - big cats; in which Panthera tigris is a tiger; Panthera leo is a lion; Panthera onca is a jaguar; Panthera pardus is a leopard; Panthera uncia is a snow leopard. I hope this helps to understand the context of my previous correction🐅🦁🐆🐾😆
@helenclarke47354 жыл бұрын
@@IndomitableT Panther as he is using it is an umbrella term including cats with a dark melanistic gene. It's not an exact classification. Same continent or not, black jaguars of S America and black leopards in SA are panthers.

Watching these animals on screens and mobiles does not do justice to their sheer size and presence. I live in India and once visited a wild safari on an open top gypsy, no idea why I did it tbh. We encountered T24 popularly called Ustad, he was widely regarded as the biggest wild male Tiger in India at that point. He was almost as big as the gypsy and I'm not even kidding or exaggerating in anyway. We could hear him breathe from about 20-30 yards away. The tigers I saw in the Sunderbans seemed puny in comparison. He was the biggest wild tiger I'd ever witnessed in my life. Vayetse seems to be just as big. Kevin being a small man exaggerates the sheer size of Vayetse even more.
