He just felt more connected to the people back then, he’s still great but he was for the people then

Kevin Smith has changed a lot but in some ways the world has also changed and left him behind. He was a hot commodity in the 90's and early 2000's but when Zack and Miri flopped and he started beefing with the Weinsteins, who had produced all of his earlier films, he got less opportunities in the film business and had more trouble getting funding for his projects. Although he still has a loyal fanbase he's considered a bit of a relic of the Gen X era these days. He was once considered a peer of directors like Quentin Tarantino and PT Anderson who also sprang out of the 90's indie film scene but unlike them he never really evolved as a filmmaker or challenged himself. And I think people just got tired of him. I used to listen to all of his podcasts and follow everything he did, but eventually it just seemed like he was telling the same rambling stories over and over again and once he started making truly awful movies like Yoga Hosers and Tusk and I completely lost interest.

@@timfriday9106 He had changed well before that. Too fat for 40 was the last time he did any kind of controversial talk was regarding Bruce Willis when he was just a few year into his stoner phase.

This has got to be the funniest most vague Prince story ever

Turns out Prince was WAY ahead of his time, cause right now we have multitudes of people gathering in their own little princeworld. All joking aside it's kind of scary, when it was 1 rich popstar you could just ignore him and let him live in his own little kingdom that after all he himself paid for.

Probably said ‘no’ due to the rights issues surrounding that particular track

Prince had a long history of saying No to his music being used though. Weird Al refuses to make parodies unless they approve it. Prince denied him like 6 times if I recall correctly.

It had a lot to do with Sony owning the rights to his music. He had an AWFUL relationship with Sony, and haaaatted them. Sony probably would have said yes, but he probably didn't want to give them the satisfaction.

@@minners19with beautiful girl In the world, there’s a whole other story, it’s not just Sony or Prince.

In Italy there was this BS case where they accused Prince of plagiarism. Look up the song they claim he stole it from and it’s ridiculous. Yet the artist is Italian so the Italian courts ruled against Prince. It muddied up the rights to the song likely.

They are either good or bad? And either everyone thinks they are good or everyone thinks they are bad? Isn't there a possibility that something you don't like, someone else might? Because their preferences are different from yours? You think about it.
