That Diner scene was shot in my neighborhood. I remember waking up late and my friend texted. "I think I just saw Kevin Smith.....wait....I just saw Bruce Willis." I was so upset to have missed this opportunity. Crazy to think they were going through this at that time.

@@brianbagnall3029 I mean, the fact that there were "sides" at all was kinda on Bruce. People are supposed to hear a Connie Chung reference and be like, "brilliant! How did he come up with that? Everybody else better stick to the script and let him concentrate, so we don't miss anymore gems like that one!" It shouldn't have been an argument. I think if Kevin was a better director he would have put a stop to Bruce's ad-libbing right from the start. Controlling your actors is fundamental. Maybe a good ploy would be what they did on Mrs Doubtfire; get the take as written, then get a couple of ad-libbed takes (which were mostly unused) to let Robin get it out of his system.
@Lugnal3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the 6 month old response. Kevin went on record numerous times talking about how Bruce Willis was a nightmare to work with (Hell, everyone who worked with him would say the same thing). Bruce basically appointed himself as a backseat director during Die Hard 4 and for the majority of Cop Out, and as such, literally no one on set could 'control' him.

Interesting story, makes sense why Bruce would be out of touch. This is why I don't want to have Bruce Willis on Brooklyn 99 no matter how much Andy Samberg says he wants a cameo from Bruce Willis.
