Planning on buying this phone after a few months... for the "worst" things, those really don't bother me because 1) Don't have a wireless charger and have never used one 2) Price is reasonable imho, plus it should go down a bit by the time I'd be buying it 3) For the carrier stuff, phones in my country doesn't work that way 4) Don't really do photography, so don't need telephoto 5) I personally DO like the skin, plus it's got Android 10 so...

But one thing for sure, I am so glad somebody finally spoke about the Saturation of most midrange Super Amoled display, that's always been a huge turned off for me especially when gaming. Been slowly saving to replace my Sony Xperia L1 of 4 years, with the Galaxy A50. By the time I had saved my money, it had become an A51. Although more expensive than some of the Huawei, Honor and Moto models, here in the UK they were promoting the model with a £50 Cashback - so a no-brainer in the mid-market. The battery size really clinched it also - previous phone had to be charged up every night or using a battery pack on the train home at the end of an evening out. Buying SIM- free in the UK, leaves one free to all service providers - O2, Vodafone, EE, 3 and Virgin. The only colour choices were black or white. My Sony was black - I hated the colour. I'm using the S View Case. This is white and will be very grubby in a few months. Hope I can geta blue case then.....

I bought the A51 5G from best buy when they had a special of $150 off. What I like is INCREDIBLE pictures (whether it front or back camera ) and the variety of shooting modes.. Super crisp images. I also like numerous screen lock options, nice big display, and overall functionality. I DO NOT like the fact that control buttons are on the same side of the phone and too close together. No matter how you grab it you are bound to touch one or all of them . Also the volume seems to occasionally gets lower and higher by itself. Back casing is waay to slick and slippery so hold on tight.

I'm *so* impressed with the new A series of Samsung Phones. I ditched Samsung a few years back, after a really bad experience, but have to admit, helping my father set up his A20 over Xmas, I was seriously impressed with the phone overall. The A51 seems to be more than a few steps up from the A20 and I *love* the front mounted Fingerprint Sensor. But, I can't get past notches of any description, be they the hideous Apple style, Hole Punch, Tear Drop, Infinity O, whatever....so it's good for me, to find out that this could be "hidden"....give me a good olde fashioned "forehead" any day 😉 There seems to be a lot (not least the price) to recommend this over the new Pixel Phones, but I'm tempted to wait to see what the Pixel 4a has to offer...so long as it's not a rear mounted Fingerprint Scanner! 😱🤞😉

You can hide the A20 teardrop notch in the settings. Can do it in A50 too. Settings -> Display -> Full screen apps -> Hide camera.

I’m at around 1 month of deciding. I thought I would go with the iPhone 11 since I’ve been with Apple since 2013 but now it’s becoming annoying since I’ve been buying apps that Apple doesn’t offer for free not even a trail and turns out the apps suck. 1 example is a Roku app where your phone replaces the remote but the volume only works when it wants to. On my daughters $300 Android phone no problem. Then I got a drone (mavic pro) and the sensors on the iPhone are off so is the video quality and it lags. And again on my daughters $300 Android phone nothing literally nothing wrong with it and the range is farther. So I’ve been debating about a year now and I usually upgrade for no reason but I’m stuck with the iPhone X as of now and have been since 2018. I think this will be the end for Apple on my side I’ll be starting with a galaxy s10 I know it’s a year old but another reason why I finally decided is because of the google services. Samsung tablets is getting me through college why well some tablets offer all of Microsoft services for free. I was shocked since I would usually pay a yearly membership with a Mac for about $100. If this comment didn’t help you it’s ok I understand it literally took me 7 years to figure it out. Honestly just buy a budget Android phone and see the comparisons for yourself or a used expensive smartphone.

Setting the 'double tap' to wake up the A51 vs the side power button prevents the annoying unwanted screen shots issue. I hope this helps others ;-D

In Singapore, the price of this brand new Samsung Galaxy A51is S$448 without contract. When I know about this, I immediately purchase this phone because (1) the price is considered affordable for me and I had wanted to purchase a new phone costing less than S$500 in order to replace my Samsung Galaxy A10 which I purchased a year ago because the storage of the A10 is small. (2) there is a function called On Screen Display which means even if you lock the screen, you can still see the date, time on the screen, (3) I previously had a A8+ and I really love it because the phone is slim and has a feature which I really like: On Screen Display and lastly, (4) all Samsung Galaxy A series are affordable compared to the 'S' and Note series which can cost more than S$1000. A pity the 'E' series has already ceased production after the last model E8 or I will also consider purchasing the 'E' series after checking the price of all 'E' series smart phones.

Had this phone for a week now, the back camera is nice but the selfie camera is not that great as he mentions. It's actually not much better even when compared to samsung galaxy a 50. Finger print scanner is slow and takes 1-2 seconds to work which is significant when you unlock your phone at least a 100 times every day.

I have just upgraded from an S5 mini to this phone because there were some apps that I could not add to my old phone. The things I hate are that I cannot start my phone by touching the front of the screen, as I could with my old phone. It sits on my desk a lot of the time and is now more difficult to start, as the only way to do it is to press the side button. Very annoying. Secondly, the size. It it too high to fit into my top shirt pocket, so that it is fully concealed. when I wear my work outside work shirt, that has a button on the pocket, it won't fit. I am a big bloke, so don't like putting my phone in my pants pockets.

Watch out. My year old A51 died because it got a little wet in a sudden thunderstorm. I have read that they are sensitive to water. Spectrum did replace it and this is my new one. The old one had a very poor picture button often didn't work first try hoping this one works better.

I dont think they have the depth/ultra wide in 12mp, they only have the tech for only a 5mp sensor like that but hopefully next year they consider making that tipe of sensor in a higher mp count

Hmmm no telephoto camera. That's a tough buy for me then. I prefer the telephoto lense over the wide angle and even more the macro lense. Telephoto is more practical for me especially when I take my daughter to the Zoo, the aquarium or the circus and it's basically impossible to get closer to the subject. Having both is the perfect combo though. WTF was Samsung thinking?

Galaxy a51 is free on verizon (online only) right now! Best deal ever. I have the a50, and the fingerprint sensor is fine. Don't listen to the rumors.

You should have added that there is a Bluetooth and WiFi interference. It causes constant headphone audio stuttering. And performance is very poor The a51 for example starte.d to lag heavily while installing apps.

Jonathan mine aswell! I was so confused. I thought my beats were broke, but it was actually the bluetooth and wifi interference. I hope theres a way to fix it.
