Great video. I've never had jeans that fit me with my short legs. This video gave me confidence to do the alterations.

Great video. Thank you! I never knew about using a jean-a-ma-jig (or folded piece of cloth) to raise the foot while going over the side seams. That was a great help.

Glad I found you! Someone gave me an old Rex blind hem machine. If you still have yours can you do a video on threading it?!!

I am waiting on a part to fix mine. After I receive it I can. You are talking about an industrial bind hemmer correct?

How do you know what needle is the best for your machine? Im a beginner and i have singer m1505 sewing machine , thank you so much for your effort.
@kevinsews2 жыл бұрын
The fabric tells you which needle to use. The weight and thickness of the material you are sewing tells you the size of the needle to use. Google this question and you will find out more details.

Can I use singer 100/16 needle for hemming jeans and also want to know what foot have used to hemm jeans
@kevinsews Жыл бұрын
Just the regular foot will work. You can try a standard needle. Schmetz recently changed their jeans needles to be less sharp for the new jeans that aren't 100% cotton. If you buy a denim needle look for a Singer version I guess. The Inspire Denim needles I showed can be bought at JoAnn stores the last time I checked. The work well too.

Kevin do you use the same weight and thread in your bobbin when hemming jeans and have you ever used a rubber mallet to flatten the side seam? My son wants me to hem his jeans and be able to use the same distressed hem, have you ever hemmed jeans that way he said when he bought some jeans in another country they done it and I can't seem to find out how to do it, I love all your videos I am learning so much from you
@kevinsews6 жыл бұрын
Yes, I did use the same thread in the bobbin. This is the method I use when the client wants to retail the original hem: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4KbdIB5gbhoqLs

Thank you Kevin this is exactly what I was wanting I would love to see you do this version from start to finish, if you ever have time. I was sewing the hem from the inside. I like the look of sewing from the front side. One thing I am happy with is my "A" foot on my Janome 9000 it has a little black button on the side and if you level the foot(you can put your needle in the garment and then raise the foot to get the foot level) and push in the button, it locks the foot stays level until you sew over the "hump" then it returns to normal.

Great video Kevin. Do you have any tips for stretch denim?
@kevinsews4 жыл бұрын
Use a Schmetz Denim needle. The recently designed them for the new stretch denim that is now popular. For 100% cotton use an Organ needle. It is still designed for the old style denim.

Kevin, could you do a video on the different models of the Singer HD machines? 4432, 4411, 4423, 4452, and the 44S if there are more? These model numbers are totally confusing. Thanks
@kevinsews6 жыл бұрын
I only own the 4452 and 44S and the only difference it the number of stitches they offer. Everything else is the same on these two models.
@moosbrth6 жыл бұрын
Somewhere I read the 4452's warranty is good for home and commercial...is it heavier duty than the others? I'm maybe going to be repairing Carhartt duck stuff. One other question, what is your drag around machine currently? Are you still using the PC420?
@kevinsews6 жыл бұрын
It is no way a commercial machine. Yes, I still own the PC420. I haven't used it in a while, but it is a good machine. For commercial use you need something like the Brother PQ1500 on the low end and an industrial on the other end. Some say the older machines will work for for semi-industrial use as well. The problem though is with all domestic machines they all use small amp motors where industrial machines use 1/2 to 3/4th HP motors. There is a big difference there.
