I have been pretty down and out as of late from burnout/stress which is de-motivating me to study/work hard. In the ending of this video you basically gave a mini pep talk that I think I REALLY needed to hear. have you ever thought of being a motivational speaker or doing a ted talk? I feel like you will have a profound effect on people, especially those who are on their long journey to becoming a doctor. Personally im heading into my second year in my undergrad degree as a pre-med, all my other friends are into easier programs so they party every weekend and are dumbfounded by how much i study, so instead of me striving to be better I sometimes say hey my friend doing an english major only studied 2 hours and finished and ive been at it for 5 and am nowhere near done.... that gets me unmotivated although biology and medicine is my passion. Hearing you talk and your mentality towards life and success really does make me fall in love again with my hardworking and dedicated side, so from all of us, Do a ted talk and thank you x

I would like to say you are very motivational ! I’m starting the respiratory therapy program in August and I’m super excited. Seems like it’s been a long journey leading up to this point, but I know it will pay off. I won’t be a doctor but I want to be as happy and excited for my career as you are!

Incredible story Dr. Jamie. I remember being rejected, and then accepted the following year. Ran into some issues this year and now I have to repeat year 1 of medschool. I know what happened, I learned from it and will continue to push forward no matter what. Thanks Dr. Jubbal for this video. It was awesome.

I agree with the statement of try to work hard to be better than you were yesterday. I also agree with the statement take time to recognize the smaller achievements so you can appreciate the big ones. The smaller things that you did good with are the steps to getting you to the big things that are amazing! This is especially important for when you are feeling over critical and down on yourself. It helps with improving your mood and mental health to recognize the smaller good things YOU DID WELL !!!! Definitely something everyone of every age can work on.

"You always want to be learning something new" Literally the reason I decided to go to CNA school and hopefully go to LPN from there. I'm so tired of not learning while I work, especially the topics that interest me. Thank you so much for sharing, it's nice to hear you say all this. Inspirational!

I love watching these videos, I am in 3rd quarter nursing going into 4th and in 5th quarter is my critical care rotation so we will be going over respiratory problems like ARDS and at my college we have respiratory therapist program and I told them I am going to come see them when we get to that because they are the experts. I love cardiopulmonary and want to become a NP who specialize either in cardio or pulmonary

Watched the entire video and I’m thankful that I did. Dr. Rutland, your energy is pervasive and your attitude is wonderful. I’m watching this video right now, preparing myself for the journey I will experience in undergrad, and trying to understand whether or not I should embark on the premed path. Though I’m still uncertain, you’ve certainly convinced me that it is possible to be a doctor with hunger and passion, a fear that was previously concerning me. So once again, thank you. I will update you in the future if I do decide on the path you’ve inspired me to consider!
