You keep talking all you want! Your stories and information are very interesting. Thank you for your brave service to Ireland and the United States. God Bless. 🇺🇸 🇮🇪

Kevin, I heard you on Jack Carr's podcast and I am the guy who mentioned that you talked so much. That was kinda tongue in cheek, but it was funny to hear you talk about it here. Someone who can laugh at themselves is refreshing and amazing! While listening to this episode, my already high respect for you has really soared. Your experiences as a team leader, NCOIC, First Sergeant etc., where you put things in perspective and made proper changes are so correct and valuable. I served in the Army for 24 years myself and was medically retired as an E7. While listening , I thought, " I would have loved to serve alongside this man!" Hopefully we'll cross paths here in Utah someday and I can thank you in person for what you have done and what you continue to do for our country. Take care.

'War is gray" is one of the best summations I have heard in a long time, then again life is gray if you think about it. It's amazing how effective the 'quiet' chat with students privately, has an effect. Fully agree with your views on medals. Great stuff as always Kevin.

Thank you Mr. Owens for putting out this podcast. These types of stories of what combat is like and what good and bad leadership is like is what helps young troops like me develop my career.

I never fell asleep during "fireguard" in the Infantry, but often my relief would never show up and I never knew who was supposed to relieve me because only the leadership knew who were asleep. So I'd end up being awake all night pulling security for no reason. 🤣 That story brought back a lot of sleepless memories.

Old sandbag here, 21st Inf Batt then 11th Sigs. Came here from your chat with Jack Carr and have binge listened/watched all 11 podcasts so far. Great fun, love to hear the Dundalk/US accent mix as well. I worked as a civvie in USAEUR HQ, Heidelberg for years in the 80s/90s so am well used to hearing SOS-DD etc. Best from sunny Malta, got away from rainy Ireland years ago...

Kevin - you have a LIFE STORY like no one else on KZbin and I listened to the Jack Carr podcast from beginning to end like i was watching a great new movie. Talk on, talk on and keep talking on about all you have seen, felt, been through and survived both on and off the battlefield. You are one in a million friend and the sum total life of your experiences prove it beyond a doubt.

Kevin is the real deal. I was sea duty navy for over 4 years. I was never shot at but I was in sleep deprivation for much of the time at sea. I only worked for 1 superior who could even shine Owen’s shoes when it comes to developing subordinates..the care factor. I observed the marines to have this positive factor among senior nco and Os.

I’m so glad that you are doing these podcasts!! I am a retired Marine Corps Officer and my motto was “Easy to be hard, hard to be smart”. I love your common sense approach and care for your soldiers. Wish I could have served with a guy like you!!! Had very good NCOs but in the 80s and 90s wasn’t like post 9/11. Keep crushing it Kevin!!

Interesting perspective in the student setting during the WLC, where the instructors complain and think that changes is for the worse. I love the statement that was something along the lines of "I have more experience then you, I don't care if you like it". We as a society get caught up in the 'feelings matter' and it can hinder the mission and logic greatly.

1) Getting to Jack Carr's place sounds pretty entertaining/dicey. 2) College is overrated. It's interesting/strange the Army is as hung up on it as private enterprise. 3) Civilian awards are a plague upon the land. Kids are inadvertently trained to expect them as soon as they start soccer or school.
