+Kevin Paradox Thanks Paradox for talking abt ur opinion on what defines a dancer, i used to be really closed minded,thinking that only people who freestyle are dancers. But recently i have been opening up to accept everyone as dancers, whether or not they freestyle. Your opinion helped me become even more open minded about this, thank you so much :)

Hello Kevin! I had a lot of questions in regards to hip hop freestyle I've been watching a ton of hip hop forever videos and hip hop dictionary moves from Buddha stretch Ive been sponging everything in as far as those videos but I feel like my growth is stagnant . Is there any other way or any other resources I can access to further my knowledge on this style? I would also like to find the root or history of hip hop freestyle to be better connected and perhap better represent this style. Jermz from FLORIDA 🙏🏻

Can you make an example or explain how long it is ok to be considered okaii to do that in your dance round ? Thanks a lot Kevin. What you doing is literally the Hip Hop Spirit sharing means caring. Yo what's up, if you read your comments you will know I am truly a *huge* fan & supporter of the person you are that is put on display through your dance.. so don't assume this to be a negative question, I was just wondering (as well as many other ppl) what is the purpose of the triangle/pyramid that you wear on your clothes and necklace - hopefully not for the same thing(s) that darkness identifies it with. . Thank you for your answer, keep being you brother God Bless!
@KevinParadox8 жыл бұрын
+Blessed2Dance4God hi my friend. ill be glad to answer the question. It's called the penrose triangle. which is a 3 dimensional impossible object created by mr. penrose. The object is drawn in such way that it is not possible to truely create or have in this world because the paces of the triangle connect in ways they actually cant. It is a 'Paradoxical' object, and symbolises my name and my mindset. Thats all :) Always remember that all figures existed before humans could even speak or draw them hahaha. just because they attached mainstream meaning to it. does not mean that this figure eighter is actually that. Or carries any of it at it's base. Don't loose your head. Love

Before I ask you my question I have something I would like to say...I love the way that you are explaining to us what you do and how you do it. I really like your mindset and how much control you have, not only of your performance while you dance, but the control of your well being physically and mentally. Like you I also did tricking for a while when I was younger, so I really understand where you are coming from when you said things that you have in this video. I really respect your lifestyle (even though I probably don't know that much about you). So my question is: how do I push my body to follow my mind while I'm dancing? or How to have more control? Because I find myself in a position where the connection between my mind and body breaks, in other words I lose control, or my body (muscles and/or agility) can't follow. I hope you understand my question. I'm hoping that one day I will have an opportunity of meeting you and talking to you, and i hope you see this message. RESPECT!

Hi Kevin, my name is Anthony, First of all i wanna thank you for all what you do to help us. Maybe you won't remember me, but I'm the guy from Cameroon, to whom you gave the best student's ticket at the fair play dance camp last summer, and it gave me more energy to believe in my dance. so thank you for that This is my question: i'm 22, and i finished my engineering master degree, and today i really want to dedicate my time to dance but all the hip hop classes that i've found in my town (Rouen, France) only do choreography but me i want to learn all the different techniques in hip hop (pop, lock, b boy, house, etc...) in order to develop my freestyle. And also, dance classes through the years have become more and more expensive. So, i want to know what you think about not doing classes but learning from internet, and also what do you think about dance as a business. Sorry for being too long, and i give you a big big shoutout! keep going bro! thanks

Hi Kevin! I want to tell you that you helped me a lot, and i started to gather information from everything such as other styles, and others like movies, books etc. that are not dance related. My question is : -How can you make variations of basic steps of hiphop better, how to aply them using grooves and flows. I think i have a problem with this and i want to overcome this problem. Thank you a lot !

Hi Kevin, First off, I'd like to say you're an excellent dancer, and I really appreciate these how to videos you make. I have a [long] question. Can you do a video on how to make your waving more fluid? I've seen you and many other dancers wave in a way that's so graceful, it's like water, as if your bones aren't a barrier. How on Earth do you do that?? Also, the waving is seamless, and each wave flows into another. How do you do that without it looking forced? Thank you!

Hey Kevin! First I wanted to let you know I've become a fan recently. From YAK, to your freestyle vids, to these Ask a Paradox videos. Just a quick one that you don't necessarily need to answer in the video. Here is fine, if you can. When making your freestyle videos in public areas, do you just pick a spot and put the camera down and dance in front of it? I feel like wherever I go I'm going to be told that I can't film there or something. So, just curious as to how you got about it. Thanks!

Hej Kevin! There's my question. Could you speak more about control - in hip-hop freestyle - from the mind, on the body? I mean, I've been noticing that a lot of dancers are very well prepared to react to any "accident" or non-previsible things coming up during battles (beat stopping, shoe dropping.. any element that require an important focusing in improvisation). But would you say, that, in your practice, you let some space for your body to overtake on your mind? (In some sports concepts, it'd be "getting into the Zone". In a way, comparable to "get into transe"). Maybe, a quick image to explain what kind a feeling I'm talking about: it's like when you fall asleep, your mind seems escape somewhere. And then, as your mind comes back, you notice you were falling asleep. I'm talking about this very moment you were not aware being "somewhere else". I feel that this feeling comes up sometimes in dance. Well, I hope I made my question clear and that you would enjoy speaking about it! Cheers! And thanks for your work, Salomé

Hi Paradox, I'm Allan. I started dancing 2 years ago. I love watching your battles and your judge demos. I also appreciate the fact that you give us advice to become better. You're one of my biggest inspiration. Keep on dancing the way you do. I dance to several kind of songs but I mainly dance New Jack swing. So, to avoid repeating myself, I wanted to create characters like you said but then I realised I can't do anything without my dance style. In addition, when I try new things such as connecting body parts, I don't feel like I'm dancing anymore. Moreover, when I see other people trying things I try, they improve on the first try. Sometimes, I feel like I'm the only one stuck to the same level, unable to interpretate the music. This is kinda annoying. I hope you can help me. Thanks bro.

Hey Kevin, I discovered you recently and I think you definetely have what I am looking for in dance; essence. I love how you describe what dancing is and how much you relate it to feelings. I think it is a highly important thing, especially nowadays, when everything looks to be focused on auditions and getting to the first row. In relation to all this, I have the following question: how do you stay apart from all this world? Is there anything you do not to think too much while freestyling? I find myself a pretty emotional dancer, I love relating every piece to my own mood, or at least, to some aspect of myself. However, it gets difficult sometimes, because we usually get to dance in front of other people and ,as social creatures, it is hard to get totally away from others' opinion and therefore, loosing the connection with ourselves. Not sure if I made my point clear and I guess there's not a formula, but a whole lifestyle... but it is worth a try! Thank you so much for starting this whole iniciative of Q&A, I totally think you are gonna help a lot cleaning the whole scene. Piece! P.S.: See you this summer at Fairplay! :)

I love the way your logic behind dance works and how you take inspiration from outside to inside for creating elements of dance. I admire you a lot!! So, now i have been dancing for around 2 years. Although I have been working with my basic techniques and creating moves, i haven't yet learnt to understand music. Whenever i practice with music i start dancing On beat but after a few transitions in music i go Off-beat. i have been trying to stay On-beat but nothing seems to work out. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS THE RIGHT WAY TO UNDERSTAND MUSIC AND PRACTICE WITH IT. Thanks a lot!!

Thanks for the heads up about where to put the questions! My friend, Line, and I sent a message to your Facebook. I'll rewrite the condensed version here: Kevin, hello from Paris! Before we ask you a million questions, we just want to say thank you, merci and dankjewel! You have helped, inspired and motivated us beyond anything you can imagine with our dancing. We really appreciate your Q&A videos, they're amazing!! 1. How do you practice musicality? What is musicality to you? 2. We practice a lot with concepts but then when it comes to an open cypher we feel like we lose direction in our dancing. We feel that every thing we practice disappears, that we can't hear the music and we throw away our time in the cypher which results in us feeling bad about our round. Please help us! 3. How do you practice body control? Because your control is👌🏼! Love, Rochelle and Line Ps. Come to Paris! 🇫🇷✌🏽️✨

Hi Kevin, I've taken dance classes since I was young so most of my experience has revolved around following choreography. When I try to freestyle to music I find myself stuck and quickly become frustrated because movements don't naturally flow together. I constantly try to think about what I should do next instead of feeling the music. How should I get past the the mindset of following set movements? Sorry if this question makes no sense. You're a absolutely incredible man I wish you the best.

Hi Kevin, I'm Low G from Vietnam. I find difficulties in making my dance feel natural. everytime i dance to the music I start grooving. But then If I try to transit to another move, it will be sloppy and i get everything twisted together. I can only solve this when I'm in a good mood. However, If I practice to discipline myself even when I lose my feelings, how can I solve this problem ? Thank you very much.

Hi Mr. Paradox. Ryan Termoso here from the Philippines. I have a question. Do you put into consideration when joining a battle the judges and whoever plays the music i mean the DJ? Or you are just the type of a dancer or battler that join and join no matter who's the judge or the DJ? And is it a big deal for you if the songs played in a battle are famous or well-known songs coz for me i think in a battle the songs must be new and fresh or if it is famous it must be different from the original one. What's your opinion about it? Thanks sir! =)

Hey ! Firstly, let me say that : you're doing an amazing job and I'm really glad to have the chance to get some advices and some answers from my favorite dancer By the way If you're ever going to answer me on a video, just call me "Papis" if you can't pronounce "Myogramme" (french words :x) Anyway, I got one question about dancing : I've seen that some dancers are more clean than some other dancers, and for example in isolation, some dancers got more clean and more "isolated" moves than some others. Even though I dance since 4 years (almost 5), I still got some trouble to understand how these dancers can isolate so much moves while I can't. => So my question is how do you get these clean moves, does it's about musculating yourself or is it really just about practicing, which would mean I don't practice in a right way ? (the thing is that I've kinda learnt how to dance alone, with some youtube videos...) Thank you in advance if you answer, and if you can't answer, that's fine, I probably got other simple questions in my head lol I can show you some videos if you don't see what I'm talking about btw
