People be sleeping on your wisdom bro, and honestly I feel kinda selfish cause a part of me wants to keep this gold mine a secret. But at the same time i would like to see this art form level up as a whole

That marinated chicken analogy is the best advise I've heard about freestyle. I am 48 and just started learning about the world of freestyling 2 years ago. Time is ticking but I now know I can't rush it & just go slow and with the flow....

The comparison to a martial arts fight makes so much sense. How tf are we supposed to enjoy dancing when all we're thinking about is technique and next move. Great video.

It's great how your delivery is easy to understand, I dance for a long time having some mental locks in different aspects of my moves and patterns, but your talks always helped me to understand what I want to do in my dance. You are the biggest inspiration for me!

Sorry to hear about your injury. As someone whose been dancing for 20+ years I can confirm that its simply part of the journey for most dancers. No one gets out whole, unfortunately. Hope your injury is something you can manage and eventually eliminate all together!

Kevin I am a better dancer and HUMAN today because of your outlook on dance and life. You are limitless and I hope you know all the good you put out to this world will come back to you. Hang in there during this tough time of the injury - me and so many are rooting for you every step of the way. Hope to train with you some day, maybe even a ted talk. The true paradox is that the limit does not exist. Thank you and namaste. 🙏🏼

Dear Paradox, thank you again for your true sense of sharing. I am a frecn dancer and I have lots of personal questions, but I will start with this one, trying to make it as general as I can : Nowadays, Hip-Hop events are generally really cut into disciplines : Popping, Hip-Hop, Breakdance, Locking, Krump etc. But it is not always so simple to put labels on dancers I think. Have you already experiment the feeling of considering a style of dance (for example popping), as your style of predilection, whereas you feel more free, in your body and mind, when dancing in Hip-Hop/freestyle category for example? Just like if your head was saying "popping" and your body "hip-hop freestyle". Is it a real question, or is it just that I must try harder to turn the constraints into strenghts. (Sorry if it is not clear enough), Peace, Kim.

These videos are so invaluable. Thank you for sharing your mentality and dance philosophy. Im a beginner dancer and easily get overwhelmed by technique and everything I have yet to learn which disconnects me. Your way of thinking reminds me what is really important-connecting to my feeling, the music, expressing myself, and storytelling which is what makes art fulfilling and relatable. I cant wait to watch all your question videos and more!

Hi Paradox big fan, I'm a popper whose delved in a bit of hip hop and have mostly been self taught, my two questions are, (1) how can you make sure you've built up your foundations(style foundations) properly without outside consultation/aid so you can start experimenting with the style(popping) and (2) how do you groove or learn to groove to music that you really don't like or doesn't accent you style very well whilst not killing your own style to do it.
@jeff3725 Жыл бұрын
1.) If you can talk just in your basics and and converse only from there, you’re good to experiment. 2.) Grooving in Hip-Hop is a feeling. You’d don’t learn to groove, grooving comes from something that feels good and your body just repeats it over and over again, what makes a groove is a bounce, rock, with an intention. So if you can find that “feel good” feeling as you listen, stick to it and expand on it, let it FEEL good before moving on. Tap into the heart of your dance, not the thought of the move, when you’re grooving or dancing of course.
