Many years ago I lived in L.A and did a lot if work as an extra on TV and in movies, and THE BEST job, hands down, was when I got to work a few days on "Diagnosis Murder". Dick Van Dyke was the star and Fred Willard was the guest star. The show had been running for a few years, so everyone was relaxed and friendly, and it was so much fun. 😊

Wow how refreshing to realize that this man got it re: folks pinching their pennies to go out for an evening. A true artist who appreciates his audience ✌️

Best shrink wrap! Oh, that's funny! Martin's records were expertly done with comedic songs that really had depth with them. He's a super talent no doubt.

Parents loved Fernwood but at 6-7, I was way too young to know it was a spoof. Watching it now is a strange mix of familiarity and seeing the most subversively hilarious show I have ever seen - and I watch lots of comedy TV.

Just discovered Martin via an accidental click on a KZbin video of a classic UK comedian. Martin is very dry, witty and exceptionally erudite man… something we Brits love 🇬🇧

Such a wonderful deep dive into my all-time favorite tv show: Fernwood 2Nite and the great Martin Mull. Where can I find more shows with this kind of humor?

Why somebody didn't put Mull and Willard together in a big screen movie is forever a mystery. It could've been great or a flop and then discovered later on and considered a classic.

One of the best of all time, and great to learn much more about Martin Mull. Never knew about the painting. Loved hearing his take on one of my favorite TV shows of all time, Fernwood/America 2 nite!

Here is a guy who is overlooked for his comedy influence on the culture. He should've been as big as Steve Martin. I think he abandoned his vision so he could make a living.

On Norm Macdonald's video podcast a few years ago, Martin Mull said everything he has ever done is all in the name of funding or aiding his painting, which seems to be his first priority

Mary Hartman, Fernwood 2Nite and America 2Nite. Three of the most original comedy shows of all time had two (really three) of my all time favorites, Martin Mull, Fred Willard and Dabney Coleman. It's impossible to state how off the wall these shows were. Martin & Dabney were sublime on Hartman - a criminally underrated show. It was a different era, and they slapped it together nightly - so it was low budget heaven. As were the talk shows. The cast of characters, and the cheesy vibe, of the show were a riot. The Debbie Dunbar Review....GimbleCo. Loved the schtick. Martin & Fred riffing off each other was comedy gold. I will always miss Martin Mull.

KPCS is best. No small talk, promotion or video scenes. Real 'fly-on-the-wall' stuff that expands on my own Hollywood experiences. This series is cool beyond belief. And as for Mull; I looked so much like him that we were often mistaken for each other.

Rented Lips (1988) Synopsis: A documentary filmmaker, who has spent the last 15 years making films like "Aluminum: Our Shiny Friend," is finally given the chance to make the documentary on Indian farming he has always wanted to. The catch? He must simultaneously direct a porn film. But as he tries to make the porn film, which he turns into a musical called "Halloween in the Barracks," he must deal with a temperamental actor, a fundamentalist preacher, and other obstacles.
