➡ You can also use iCloud, OneDrive, Google Drive, DropBox, etc. to automatically sync your iPhone/iPad files with your Windows PC. The method covered in this video allows you to sync directly from your iOS device directly to your PC without needing a cloud storage provider, iTunes, third party software, a clunky cable, or a subscription. This works especially well for large files, like lots of photos & videos, that you want to transfer to your PC or to your iPhone/iPad.

Why does everything with iPhone have to be so complicated? On android, I literally connect my cable to my PC and it opens up all my files without any process or 3rd party app, this is so stupid, I might just go back to using my android.
@Random-xj5mj Жыл бұрын
I hear you bro. IPhone is complicated for seemingly no reason. I was an android user; last year, however, I decided to try an iPhone 13 pro for the first time in my life. And man it doesn't even have many simple features that android has, such as locking the screen in landscape orientation. I got so tired of using the iPhone just in a few months that decided to buy a Samsung S23 Ultra. This phone is SOO MUCH better.

The only thing that was weird for me when going from iphone to PC was if I save the folder directly the the "transfer" folder, nothing would happen on my PC. Kevin great tutorial ! Very easy to follow and you did a great job going step by step to make even the novice user able to complete this. The only thing you did forget which admittely is an advanced concern, is that on a home router, typically ip addresses are not static. Which means that each time a device restarts, the router may assign a different address than the last time. It's called Dynamic Allocation. In order to make the IP address specific to the laptop every time, you would have to go into your router's configuration and manually add both the hardware address of the laptop's NIC and the IP address that you would like assigned everytime. This would ensure that your technique would work the same as it did the first time, and the 50th time for that laptop connecting to that network. Now this technique of setting up a static IP address is a little bit more involved and requires the end user knowledge how to configure for their particular router. Some of the other suggestions of using cloud based transfers in the comments are a little more fool proof as they have apps that allows access to sharing of files (which don't involve making changes to router configurations). I have to say...I've used your technique and I do love it.

The iphone properties of the files (date created, modified) aren't transferred (even with the option active) and the dates are all the date of transfer to PC. 2. After about 1000 files transferred, the processed froze. 3. Some video mov files were transferred with extension HEVC and aren't playable without a paid codec by Microsoft. None of the above happen with other more common methods to transfer photos to PC. Is there a way around for this great otherwise method?

Hi, Vital question I used to transfer videos by phone cable from iphone to PC , the video displayed on PC would be double the size on iphone (which is good and expected), the codec of the vid shows H.264 on PC and the quality is just good and natural. Now when I transfer the very same video, from the same iphone to the very same PC (even to other PCs) via the same cable, the video file size is half, requires HEVC codec to play and when i downloaded hevc and okayed the video, visual quality is just bad ; bitrate is cut in half, fand file size is half than the previous copy that I had trabsferred many months ago. Also, the good quality copy that shows H.264 on PC , now shows HEVC on the iphone I only have this issue with videos now, not with pics. Inever had had it with videos before. Would you happen to know where this might come from and how to remeditae? Great video, Kevin! I like the way you‘re using Windows „like a Pro“. Is this procedure suitable when transfering full albums or just „all pictures“?
@KevinStratvert2 жыл бұрын
This is very stable and you should be able to transfer any amount of data. With Wi-Fi, the transfer speed should also be very fast.

@@KevinStratvert But selecting 1000-xxx pictures takes long time. I can't find a way to select all. Or another way of copying photos through Archive. Microsoft Pictures is not stable, but can do it, and Icloud app is no good either.. But a nice video, Thanks

Good video but you didn't cover any possible errors. For instance when I did the ipconfig search for my IP address, I got 2 different IP addresses. I've tried both but get errors when I try to connect to the server using them on the iPhone. I get a message that starts "There was a problem connecting to the server." FWIW I double checked that the account is setup on the PC and very carefully and deliberately entered the account name and password on the iPhone. You might want to do a follow up video covering possible errors.

Did you ever solve this problem? I have been having the same issue
@rhhutchins194 Жыл бұрын
@@moreperfectpodcast I've slept more than twice since I posted here. I might have forgotten the original question; so if my answer doesn't fit, please make allowances. To transfer files from my iPad or iPhone, I simple connect the Lightning USB cable to the i-device and the other end to the PC. On the PC, I open File Explorer and look for the i-device listed there. I then click on it and go down as many directory/folder layers as needed to locate the file to display it from the i-device. From there it is a simple click and drag operation to whatever location I want. This is what I use to get photos and files from the i-device to the PC; I rarely ever go the other way and don't remember if it works from PC to i-device. HTH

After years trying to find an effective way to transfer files/photos from my iphone to a non mac/apple computer/device, like my trusty tough Dell Laptop I have been left frustrated and resentful, but thanks you to you I am now contact as I followed your every instruction and boooom! my photos from iphone now on my Dell, wow! i was the happiest guy ever! So this means I can delete the photos on my iphone now?? Kevin your video on the subject is excellent. But, does it still work? It seems the recent update of IOS have rendered this data transfer method inoperable. I've followed the instructions exactly but after getting IOS 14 and onward on my Ipad, it just doesn't work anymore. I keep getting error message when trying to connect to server. Some online posts state that IOS updates have rendered this impossible.

Hi Kevin, many thanks for creating this great video. I have a question regarding the instructions you provided. I followed your instructions and was able to upload a folder from my PC to my iPhone 12 Pro Max. The folder contains text files of deleted Notes that I was able to recover. However, I am having trouble figuring out how to add the contents of this folder to one of my existing Notes folders on my iPhone. Whenever I try to do this, I am prompted to "SAVE TO: New Note,". I am not given the option to save to any of my existing Notes folders. I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide me with some guidance on how to accomplish this. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Kevin! Also another tip to the other guys, put your transfer folder on your SSD or M.2. Don't put it on your HDD, or else you will wait for a whole day just transferring it. I tried putting it on SSD and the 50GB videos where smooth as butter!

I want to hug you so freaking much for this, thank you!!!! The other methods I found weren't working. My space was full and I was having to send a maximum of 5-6 photos (20mb) at a time to my e-mail!! Sometimes it was only letting me send 1 at a time. Thanks to you I can finally send more!!!! You are the absolute greatest. I was really wanting to switch back to my Android phone since you can just plug it in and drag the files over with no issues whatsoever. 😭 I'm trying to shuffle everything over to my new external hard drive (since my old one broke) and I needed to send over product listing photography that I have to edit by tomorrow so I was stressed until I found this XD The only thing was I had to annoyingly buy the program to view the photos on my PC because it saved them as HEIC files apparently.
